August 13, 2026 Mayor Along has posted WALANG PASOK for all levels for afternoon classes. With regard to this, MBASHS - MAIN SSLG has announced early class dismissal of students to 12:00 PM.

Stated in their post a reminder:

"​Proceed home immediately once dismissed and avoid staying in exposed or low-lying areas.
​Stay tuned to the official SSLG page and municipal advisories for further updates regarding class suspensions or online learning arrangements."

The mural brought pride and honor to the campus, leaving a sign of creativity and teamwork for students to see. Through the mural, it spreads awareness and normalizes menstruation. What started as a artwork that a lot of students didn't notice, now gets a achievement that most students applaud at.

Monday, August 10, Mayor Along Malapitan on a Facebook post announced WALANG PASOK for ALL LEVELS for the following day August 11.

Nakatutok po tayo 24/7, katuwang ang City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department para sa kaligtasan ng mga Batang Kankaloo." Added by Mayor Along in his facebook post.

Typhoon Maymay Grants Mega 5-Day Weekend; Students Cheer, Parents Panic

Thanks to continuous rainfall and a stubborn weather system, Typhoon Maymay has officially delivered the ultimate dream for Luzon students: a massive, five-day mega-weekend spanning all the way from Thursday, August 6 to Monday, August 10. While kids across the region are busy throwing victory parades in their pajamas, parents are slowly losing their minds trying to figure out how to entertain them for five straight days inside a flooded house.

What started as a mild drizzle quickly escalated into a Red Rainfall Warning, turning local streets into makeshift Venice canals. The weather has split the population into two distinct camps: students who are treating this unholy sequence of "SUSPENDED-SUSPENDED-WEEKEND-WEEKEND-SUSPENDED" like an extra mid-semester vacation, and everyone else who is aggressively praying their roof holds out for one more day.

However, school isn't entirely escaped. Teachers are refusing to go down without a fight, pivoting to the Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) to make sure homework still finds its way into student inboxes—even if navigating to the computer requires a rubber boat.

Behind the chaotic bliss of canceled alarms, the combined force of Typhoons Luis, Maymay, and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) remains a serious threat, causing severe flooding and widespread damage across Luzon, with the NDRRMC confirming 6 casualties.

As Monday wraps up this marathon break, students are left clutching their pillows and praying for an August 11 extension, while parents brace themselves to mop the floors and finally ship everyone back to class.

Sunday, August 9 at around 7:35 PM, Mayor Along Malapitan on a Facebook post announced WALANG PASOK for ALL LEVELS for the following day August 10.

Thursday, August 6 at 8:11 PM, Mayor Along Malapitan on a Facebook post announced WALANG PASOK for ALL LEVELS for the following day August 7 urging classes to switch into asynchronous mode of learning temporarily.

"Batay sa rekomendasyon ng ating City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department, magkakaroon ng pabugso-bugsong pag-ulan kaya't pinapayuhan ang lahat na mag-ingat at maging handa sa anumang pagbabago ng lagay ng panahon." Mayor Along stated in his post.

Due to increasing alerts of Typhoon Maymay, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department declared all classes SUSPENDED for ALL LEVELS for Thursday, August 6, 2026.

"Prayoridad po natin ang kaligtasan ng ating mga g**o at mag-aaral kaya't suspendido ang face-to-face classes at ipatutupad ang alternative delivery mode o asynchronous classes." Mayor Along Malapitan stated in a Facebook Post regarding the suspension of classes.

OPINION | Do low grades mean we're not intelligent?

‎There are many students who say, "I'm so dumb at this subject" because their grades are low and they start thinking less of themselves. For me, our grades do not define whether we are intelligent or not. I learned this when I was in elementary school. I once got a grade of 81 in one subject. When I saw my grade, I felt disappointed and even asked myself, "Am I not intelligent because I only got an 81?"

‎But later, I realized that I was good at other things too. I just needed more time to improve in that subject. After working hard and never giving up, I was able to get a much higher grade. That experience taught me that before we become good at something, we first have to learn, practice, and keep trying.

‎Having low grades is common, especially while we are still learning. At first, we may struggle to understand some lessons, and we do not always get them right away. Sometimes, all we need is more practice, time, and effort to improve.

‎If other people say hurtful words to you, don't let them bring you down. Instead, use their words as your motivation and prove what you are capable of. Even if one of your subjects has a low grade, continue to believe in yourself and have confidence. When we believe in ourselves, we become brave enough to show our strengths. We should always trust ourselves and believe in what we can do.

‎To all students out there, always remember that grades do not define who we are. Everyone has their own strengths, and each of us learns at our own pace. Keep believing in yourself, continue working hard, and never stop reaching for your goals.

OPINION | When Everything Becomes Disposable

We live in a time when replacing something has become easier than repairing it. A broken phone is replaced. Old clothes are thrown away. Even everyday items are often used once and forgotten. But somewhere along the way, this habit seems to have reached beyond the things we own. It has quietly changed the way we treat people, relationships, and even trust.

Today, many people choose to walk away instead of working things out. A misunderstanding can end a friendship, a single mistake can ruin someone's reputation online, and disagreements often end with people blocking or ignoring each other. While some situations truly require us to let go, many relationships are given up too quickly. We have become so used to replacing what is broken that we sometimes forget that not everything needs to be thrown away—some things are worth repairing.

I believe this is one of the quietest changes in our generation. We've become so used to replacing things that we've also become quicker to replace people. Instead of talking through misunderstandings, we choose to walk away. Instead of giving second chances, we often decide it's easier to start over with someone else. Of course, not every relationship should be saved, especially when it becomes harmful.
But I also believe that some friendships, trust, and promises deserve a chance to be repaired rather than forgotten.

Not everything that breaks is meant to be replaced. Some friendships deserve honest conversations. Some mistakes deserve forgiveness. Some people deserve another chance. In a world that encourages us to move on so quickly, perhaps the greatest lesson is knowing what is still worth holding on to. After all, when everything becomes disposable, we risk throwing away the people and values that matter most.
