Pope Boniface IV dedicated the Pantheon in Rome to the Blessed Virgin Mary in May 609, giving rise to the holiday we now recognize as "All Saints Day." Pope Gregory III, who dedicated a chapel at the Vatican in honor of all the saints in the eighth century, changed the date to November 1; Pope Gregory IV later expanded this commemoration of all saints to the entire church.

Attending Mass is a wonderful custom and tradition connected to the Solemnity of All Saints; after all, it is a Holy Day of Obligation! Every time we attend Mass, we specifically remember the saints in the Eucharist. Other customs on this day include reading and studying the lives of the saints, praying to the saints, particularly the saint of one's confirmation, and pleading for their intercession so that we can all attain sainthood.

It is hard to put into words how much a teacher means to their community and country. They truly embody the term "devoted," as they prioritize their students' development above anything else.

The extraordinary effort, resolve, and dedication of teachers deserve a massive celebration at least once, if not repeatedly, each year. It's an opportunity for students to show their appreciation for teachers' time and knowledge.
