The BS Nursing Level III students of the College of Nursing performed return demonstrations on the proper donning of Operating Room (OR) gowns and closed gloving, as well as assisting the surgical team in gowning and gloving, at the Nursing Skills Laboratory as part of their Related Learning Experience (RLE) in NCM 112. The activity provided the students with a practical avenue to demonstrate their knowledge and proficiency in maintaining aseptic technique, following appropriate surgical protocols, and ensuring safety and sterility within the operating room environment.

The return demonstrations were facilitated by Mr. Charles Daryll A. Delmo, Core Faculty Clinical Instructor, together with Ms. Julia Emerald D. Ragudo, Part-Time RLE Instructor, who guided and evaluated the students as they performed each procedure with precision, proper technique, and adherence to established standards of surgical practice. Through this hands-on learning experience, the students further developed the technical competence, discipline, and confidence essential to their future roles as professional nurses in perioperative care.

The BS Nursing Level II students of the College of Nursing conduct return demonstrations showcasing Essential Newborn Care (ENC) procedures on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Nursing Skills Laboratory, providing them with an opportunity to demonstrate and apply the knowledge and skills necessary for safe and quality newborn care. Facilitated by Mrs. Rosilda Diaz-Macapanas, Clinical Instructor, the activity focused on assessing the studentsโ€™ competence, procedural accuracy, proper technique, adherence to established standards, and appropriate application of essential newborn care practices.

Through close supervision and constructive evaluation, the students were guided in refining their clinical skills and strengthening their confidence in performing newborn care procedures. The return demonstration continues today, Tuesday, August 25, 2026, as the students further demonstrate their readiness to translate classroom learning into competent and compassionate nursing practice.

The College of Nursing joins the nation in commemorating the 136th Birthday Anniversary of Anastacia Giron-Tupas on Monday, August 24, 2026, honoring the life, vision, and enduring legacy of a distinguished pioneer of Philippine nursing. As the founder of the Philippine Nurses Association, Giron-Tupas played a significant role in shaping and advancing the nursing profession in the country through her unwavering dedication to professional excellence, leadership, and service.

More than celebrating her birth anniversary, the commemoration recognizes the values she embodied and the lasting influence of her contributions to generations of Filipino nurses. Her legacy continues to remind the nursing community that the profession extends beyond clinical practiceโ€”it is a noble commitment to compassionate service, ethical leadership, and the promotion of the welfare and dignity of every individual entrusted to a nurseโ€™s care.

The College of Nursing conducted a general meeting and orientation for its Part-Time Related Learning Experience (RLE) Faculty Members on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the College Faculty Office. Facilitated by the Collegeโ€™s core faculty and led by Mr. Carl Neill M. Del Rosario, Program Chair of the BS Nursing Program, the activity focused on duty schedules, RLE guidelines and policies, faculty roles and responsibilities, and other relevant matters in preparation for the upcoming off-campus clinical and community RLE activities of Level II and Level III Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students.

The orientation provided an avenue for faculty members to align expectations and strengthen coordination in ensuring the effective implementation of studentsโ€™ RLE activities. Through the core faculty, Dr. Bianca Genel B. Bedio, College Dean, extended her appreciation to all the attendees for extending their time and expertise as well as for their continued commitment and meaningful contributions to the College of Nursing and the development of its students.

The NwSSU College of Nursing officially welcomes the new batch of future healthcare professionals through CONBoarding 2026, a three-part orientation program for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Level I students together with their parents and guardians, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the 2nd Floor of the Business Development Center (BDC), Northwest Samar State Universityโ€“Main Campus.

The program commenced with the preliminaries, followed by the presentation of the Collegeโ€™s Vision, Mission, Goals, Objectives, and Core Values by Mr. Andre D. Monsanto, Governor of the Collegiate Student Council (CSC). This was followed by the opening remarks and rationale delivered by Dr. Bianca Genel B. Bedio, College Dean, represented by Mr. Carl Neill M. Del Rosario, Program Chair of the BS Nursing Program.

The second part of the program featured the Lighting of the Lamp of Knowledge, led by Dr. Bedio through Mr. Del Rosario, symbolizing the studentsโ€™ entry into the nursing profession and their commitment to pursue knowledge, competence, compassion, and service. The lighting ceremony was followed by the Oath of Commitment of the students, parents and/or guardians, and the Collegeโ€™s faculty and support staff. The College banner and student organizations were then presented, including the Collegiate Student Council officers, CONCARE officers, and CONsonance officers, followed by the introduction of the Collegeโ€™s support staff, part-time faculty members, and full-time faculty members. Adding a personal perspective to the program, Ms. Cristel A. Brozas, a Level II student, delivered a testimonial highlighting her experiences and insights as a nursing student.

The orientation continued with a comprehensive discussion of the Collegeโ€™s academic, classroom, and Related Learning Experience (RLE) policies, facilitated by the core faculty membersโ€”Mr. Charles Daryll A. Delmo, Level I and III Adviser; Mrs. Rosilda D. Macapanas, Level II Adviser; and Mr. Carl Neill M. Del Rosario, BS Nursing Program Chair. An open forum followed, providing students and their parents and/or guardians an opportunity to raise questions, clarify concerns, and gain a deeper understanding of the expectations and responsibilities that come with nursing education.

The program concluded with the closing remarks delivered by Mrs. Macapanas, who emphasized the importance of camaraderie, collaboration, and shared commitment among students, parents and/or guardians, faculty, staff, and the College in fostering a supportive environment for learning and professional formation.

Welcoming a new generation of future nurses, the College of Nursing warmly received its newest batch of Level I students of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program) during Onward Norwesians 2026, held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the College of Nursing Building.

Highlighting the activities was the Institutional Orientation, facilitated by the Collegiate Student Council (CSC) officers, together with Level II and Level III nursing students. The activity was simultaneously conducted across the different colleges of the university to familiarize incoming students with essential institutional information, including the universityโ€™s vision, mission, core values, academic policies and regulations, student responsibilities, support services, and other important guidelines for their successful transition into collegiate life.

The College of Nursing faculty and staff extend their warmest welcome to the new Level I students as they officially become part of the collegeโ€™s growing family, with the Collegiate Orientation scheduled to continue today, August 13, 2026, and will be followed by the General Assembly with the parents and guardians of Level I students scheduled on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Business Development Center (BDC) building of Northwest Samar State University.

The College of Nursing also won in several major and special awards, including Champion in Mascot Competition, Champion in Yell Competition, Champion in Campus Tour, Most Disciplined College, and Most Creative College, further highlighting the studentsโ€™ exceptional unity and competitive spirit. The College of Nursing lead by the College Dean, Dr. Bianca Genel B. Bedio, extends its warmest congratulations to its dedicated faculty, staff, and students, particularly the Level I nursing students, whose energy, camaraderie, and commitment made this remarkable achievement possible.

The College of Nursing faculty, staff, and students came together for the flag-raising ceremony on Monday, August 10, 2026, marking the opening of classes for the First Semester of Academic Year 2026โ€“2027. The ceremony also signified the collegeโ€™s active participation in the university-wide commencement of the ASEAN Month celebration, highlighted by a simultaneous flag-raising and opening program held at the second floor of the Business Development Center, NwSSU.

The university gathering brought together key officials, administrative personnel, and students, with the program also streamed via Zoom in coordination with participating state universities and colleges. The college's participation underscored its' shared commitment to fostering unity, strengthening cooperation, and celebrating the ideals of solidarity as the institution begins another academic year.
