Today, we joyfully celebrate the feast of our beloved patron, St. Vincent de Paul, a priest whose life was marked by an unwavering love for God and compassionate service to the poor and marginalized. Born in France in 1581, St. Vincent dedicated his priesthood to bringing Christβs mercy to those most in need. He founded the Congregation of the Mission and, together with St. Louise de Marillac, established the Daughters of Charity, creating communities devoted to evangelization, formation of clergy, and concrete service to the poor, the sick, and the abandoned. His life reminds us that charity is not merely an emotion, but a vocation expressed through humble and generous service.
As we celebrate our patronal feast, may the example of St. Vincent de Paul continue to inspire the Vincentian community of St. Vincent de Paul College Seminary to become men of prayer, compassion, and missionary zeal. May we learn from him to see Christ in every person, especially in the poor and forgotten, and to place our gifts at the service of God and His people. May his words, βLet us love God, but let it be with the strength of our arms and the sweat of our brows,β continually remind us that authentic faith bears fruit in concrete acts of charity. St. Vincent de Paul, pray for us!
