BS Development Communication students led the World Press Freedom Day observance through a candle-lighting tribute for fallen journalists and an effigy burning advocating truth, accountability, and press freedom. Anchored on global and local themes of peace, rights, and development, the event was held on May 18, 2026 at the BDC 4th Floor and Oval Stage. CCJS Dean Dr. Armando A. Alviola, The Courier EIC Carol Perito, DevCom Faculty and students attended the celebration.

BS Development Communication interns successfully concluded their internship journey through an Exit Conference held at the BDC Building. The event highlighted students’ accomplishment reports, reflections, and learnings gained from their partner agencies and on-the-job training experiences.

Representatives from participating agencies also shared their impressions and insights on the interns’ performance, recognizing their dedication, growth, and contributions during the internship period.

Certificates of recognition were likewise awarded to partner agencies for their invaluable support and mentorship in shaping future Development Communication practitioners.

NWSSU DevCom conducted a special lecture titled "Beyond the Download Button: Copyright, AI, and Ethical Content Creation" at the DevCom Smart Studio today, February 4, 2026.

The session featured Dr. Ervin L. Rodriguez, Director of the NWSSU Innovation Office, who served as the resource speaker for the event. Dr. Rodriguez' lecture focused on Copyright Laws and responsible use of Intellectual Property. The special lecture was attended by first-year Bachelor of Science in Development Communication students. It was organized as part of the Introduction to Communication Media (DEVC 2) course under Mx. Precious Joyce D. Ogdoc.

Successfully conducted Pre-Internship Orientation and Parent’s Consultation on 27 January 2026. The activity is one of the requirements of the Student Internship Program (SIPP) and aims to orient students and parents on internship guidelines, expectations, and responsibilities.
