Trinidad National High School Joins Soft Launch of ARAL Program in SDO Calbayog
CALBAYOG CITY, Samar – Trinidad National High School joined the soft launching of ARAL Program in the Division of Calbayog, held at the school quadrangle, September 15, 2025. The initiative aims to strengthen student learning and support academic recovery, demonstrating the school’s commitment to addressing learning gaps and enhancing students’ performance in critical subject areas.
Mrs. Cristina M. Ygrubay, OIC- Master Teacher in Science, delivered a welcome remarks on behalf of School Principal Mrs. Wilma L. Reyes. In her speech, she extended her gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event. “Sa ngalan po ng punong-guro, si Mrs. Wilma L. Reyes, ako po ay bumabati at nagpapahatid ng kaniyang taos-pusong pasasalamat at suporta sa programang ito,” Ygrubay stated.
The event was further highlighted by messages of support from key education leaders: Dr. Margarito A. Cagayona Jr. CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent of Calbayog City, through Mr. Ronaldo Siervo, expressed optimism for the program’s success, stating their hopes that its implementation would greatly benefit learners. Likewise, Ms. Teresa D. Villa, C-6, Public Schools District Supervisor, through Mrs. Cora Ruth S. Getigan, conveyed her firm commitment to the program, underscoring its importance in improving education within the district.
A significant moment of the event was the unveiling of the official ARAL Program logo, symbolizing the formal commencement of the initiative. The unveiling was met with enthusiastic applause from students, teachers, and stakeholders in attendance.
Following this, Mrs. Lora C. Puenteblanca, Master Teacher in English and Reading Coordinator, together with Mrs. Sylvia R. Quintana, Master Teacher in English, led the pledge of commitment involving parents, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders. This pledge signified their collective dedication to ensuring the program’s successful implementation.
To further demonstrate the program’s objectives, a reading activity was conducted by Mr. Siervo with three selected students. The demonstration showcased the students’ reading abilities while reflecting the program’s core goals: improving literacy, building confidence, and fostering active participation in learning. It also highlighted the critical role of reading in academic achievement and the program’s mission to address existing learning gaps.
The program concluded with a closing remarks of Mrs. Ygrubay, expressing her profound appreciation to teachers, students, and stakeholders for their active involvement and unwavering support. She encouraged the continued collaboration of all sectors to ensure the long-term success of the ARAL Program.
After the program, the parents of the ARAL Program beneficiaries were oriented by the master teachers about the details of the Department of Education’s ARAL Program. This orientation ensured that parents understood the program’s purpose, structure, and their vital role in supporting their children’s learning journey.
The launch of the ARAL Program marks the commitment of TriNHS in bridging the literacy gaps and improving the reading comprehension of the aral beneficiary.
