✨ Parol Making Contest Judging Day Lights Up ONHS Paskuhan 2025 ✨
The spirit of Paskuhan 2025 came alive last Friday afternoon, December 12, as the ONHS School Grounds glowed with creativity during the judging of the Parol Making Contest. Each classroom displayed one parol in front of their doors, which are all crafted from recycled materials.
The Parol was judged by Hon. Michael M. Loberiano, Hon. Kyla M. Cano, and Mrs. Theresa Flores. The judges carefully went around the campus, appreciating the craftsmanship, design, and stories behind each lantern. The activity highlighted teamwork, environmental responsibility, and the shared excitement of the Christmas season.
The top 3 winners will be announced next week! Stay tuned!
Merry Christmas, everyone!🎄🌟🎁

Calbayog’s River Gem
If you’re looking for a quiet place where you can breathe, relax, and enjoy nature, Hibatang River is the spot you’ve been missing. It’s one of Calbayog’s most peaceful treasures — a river that surrounded by green views and fresh air. It’s the kind of place that makes you pause and say, “I needed this.”
Not many people know this, but Hibatang is more than just a river. It is actually the birthplace of Calbayog. Long ago, the first settlers lived beside this water. They used the river for travel, trade, and daily life. Their small community slowly grew — and that little riverside settlement became the Calbayog we know today.
To help people reconnect with this historic river, the city built the Hibatang View Deck. It’s a nice space where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the wide view of the water. The deck makes the river look even more beautiful.
Hibatang River is great for people who want a break from noise and busy streets. You can walk freely, take pictures, or spend time with friends and family without stress. It’s the kind of place where simple moments feel special.
Hibatang River is not just a tourist spot. It’s a feeling — when you need to slow down, reconnect with nature, or simply remind yourself that beauty can be soft and simple.
If you ever find yourself in Calbayog, take a moment to stop by Hibatang River. Let it show you the peaceful side of the city — the side that started it all.

Young people today are growing up in a world where their voices travel farther and faster than ever before. With every story shared, solution tested, and community mobilized, they show us that climate action is not just a policy ambition—it is a lived commitment shaped by courage, creativity, and collaboration.
By standing at the frontlines of advocacy, innovation, and local leadership, young Filipinos and Southeast Asian youth are proving that resilience begins with empowered communities and informed choices. Youth are no longer outliers; they are central to building resilient economies and delivering national climate commitments.
Declared through Proclamation No. 1160 (2015), the National Day for Youth in Climate Action recognizes the essential role of young Filipinos in confronting the climate crisis and shaping national resilience.
Likewise, the ASEAN Youth in Climate Action and Disaster Resilience Day, adopted by ASEAN Leaders with strong Philippine support, strengthens regional collaboration by providing a platform for youth to share experiences, develop action plans, and offer policy recommendations for a climate-resilient ASEAN.

ONHS Youth Leaders Empowered Through GRBE Seminar
YES-O President, Nestor Monsanto, and YES-O Protocol Officer, John Criz Cacho, from Oquendo National High School proudly joined the Leadership in a Gender-Responsive Basic Education (GRBE) Seminar held at the Division Conference Hall in Calbayog City on November 24, 2025. They participated alongside SSLG and BKD officers, together with Ma’am Rosalina Palogar.
The program opened with an inspiring message from Mr. Oscar D. Billate Jr., who also facilitated Session 1—an orientation on Gender-Responsive Basic Education (GRBE) as mandated by DepEd Order No. 32, s. 2017. His discussion laid the foundation for promoting fairness and inclusivity within the school community.
The learning continued in Session 2 as Mr. Robert Anthony F. Ygrubay led a talk on Gender Sensitivity in Student Decision-Making in Governance. His session emphasized the importance of awareness and empowerment in leadership roles.
The said seminar focuses on giving emphasis towards identifying and addressing gender-based disparities in education. This also points the access to equality in basic education for all learners.
Furthermore, the seminar aims to learn and adapt the learning environment, curriculum, and school policies in ensuring that all students, regardless of their gender, can participate fully, learn safely, and achieve their potential by which the selected students will lead as an example.
The seminar not only equipped the students with valuable knowledge but also inspired them to become advocates for equality and inclusivity in their own school community.
