On behalf of the entire Socius family, the second-year Social Studies students of Northwest Samar State University warmly welcomed the freshmen through a fun-filled afternoon of games, camaraderie, and learning.
The event officially kicked off at 3 P.M. in Room 304 of the College of Education Building, where the freshmen were divided into four teams: Sapphire Lireans, Shining Sapireans, Jade Adamyans, and Crimson Hathorians.
A second-year student then discussed the guidelines and mechanics of the games at the NwSSU Bahay Alumni.
The activities began at Station 1: Catch the Dragonโs Tail, where the Crimson Hathorians emerged victorious. At Station 2: Message Relay, the Jade Adamyans claimed the win, followed by the Sapphire Lireans at Station 3: Sneeze the Candle. Finally, the Crimson Hathorians once again secured the victory at Station 4: Longest Line.
Before the freshmen proceeded to the fifth and final station, an awarding ceremony was held to recognize the winning teams from the first four games. Each winning team received a well-deserved prize, while the other participants received consolation prizes for their efforts in each station.
Finally, at the fifth station, the freshmen put their Social Studies knowledge to the test through a Quiz Bee. This time, the team groupings were set aside, allowing participants to compete individually. The winners received books to nurture their passion for readingโan essential habit and characteristic of future Social Studies educators.
The event served not only as a warm welcome to our freshmen, but also as an opportunity to foster a united Sociusโwhere trust was strengthened, friendships were built, and strong camaraderie flourished within the Social Studies family.
Welcome to Socius, freshmen!
