91st National Reading Week cm English Month ‘25 culminates
After a month-long journey of English contests and activities in celebration of the 91st National Reading Week cm English Month 2025, Calbayog City National High School’s (CCNHS) English Department and the English Erudite Club held its closing ceremony on December 5 at the Mel Senen Sarmiento (MSS) Hall.
The program started with opening remarks from Mr. Lido C. Manicane, English Department Head. He emphasized the importance of a deeper love for reading and appreciation for the English language and literature among students.
Subsequently, an inspiring message delivered by Mrs. Elizabeth B. Lumod, Assistant School Principal, ensued. “It’s important that we learn to communicate and share our ideas. The celebration is to remind us that every learner deserves an opportunity to strengthen their literacy,” she emphasized.
The awarding and distribution of certificates to the winners of the Spelling Bee, Quiz Bee, Essay Writing, Extemporaneous Speaking, Declamation, Digital Poster-Making, and Advocacy Video-Making contests conducted in November was later followed.
Eventually, the cosplay parade began, featuring Junior High School students from Grades 7-10 in costumes portraying different literary characters.
The program concluded with closing remarks from the English Erudite Club Adviser, Ms. Jayrose D. Antor. She expressed her gratitude to everyone who participated in the month’s event and encouraged the audience to continue their love for reading and the English language.
