๐๐๐น๐ ๐ญ๐ฑ, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ โ The Enrique Zobel Foundation, Inc. (EZFI) conducted an Anti-Bullying Orientation at the EZFI Social Hall to strengthen studentsโ awareness of bullying and encourage them to help build a safe, respectful, and protected school community.
The program opened with an inspiring message from Maโam Jamielyn Caviente, who began by asking the audience, โSino sa inyo ang may kakilala na nabiktima ng pangbubully?โ The question encouraged students to reflect on the reality of bullying and its impact on those around them. She explained that bullying is not only common among students but can also occur in workplaces. She pointed out that bullying may take different forms, such as offensive jokes, exclusion from group chats, and judging others. She emphasized that bullying is not simply an issue of being overly sensitive but a serious concern that affects an individualโs overall well-being.
She also emphasized that the orientation was organized not only to make the school bully-free but also to build a community where everyone is safe, respected, and protected. She concluded her opening remarks with the words, โAng pagbabago ay nagsisimula sa bawat isa,โ reminding everyone that creating a better environment begins with individual actions. After delivering her message, she formally introduced the guest speaker, Police Master Sergeant Lodjie Coz, Chief of the Community Relations Section of the Calatagan Philippine National Police.
Taking the stage, PMSg Coz opened his message by sharing Proverbs 16:3, saying, โCommit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed,โ allowing students to understand the importance of letting their decisions be guided by faith and good values. He then led the opening prayer before formally beginning the discussion.
In his presentation, PMSg Coz first explained the meaning of anti-bullying, emphasizing that it means taking a stand against all forms of bullying and promoting respect, kindness, and compassion toward others. He then introduced the four major forms of bullying: verbal bullying, which involves the use of hurtful words, insults, or name-calling; social bullying, which includes excluding someone from a group, spreading rumors, or damaging another personโs relationships or reputation; physical bullying, which refers to acts of physical aggression or intimidation; and cyberbullying, which occurs through digital platforms such as social media, messaging applications, and other online spaces.
PMSg Coz also discussed how bullying affects not only the victims but also the bully, bystanders, and the entire community. He stressed that bullying is never a one-sided issue because its negative effects extend to everyone involved.
He further presented the guiding principles of anti-bullying. These include recognizing that everyone deserves respect and safety, understanding that power should be used to protect rather than control or hurt others, realizing that silence enables harm and highlights the importance of speaking up, keeping evidence whenever bullying occurs, avoiding isolation by seeking help and support, and remembering that it is never the victimโs fault. Throughout his discussion, he connected these principles to the importance of values and faith, encouraging students to become responsible individuals who choose kindness and stand up for what is right.
The first part of the orientation concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students were given the opportunity to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of bullying prevention.
In the second part of the program, PMSg Coz discussed the prohibited items inside the school. These include fi****ms and bladed weapons, whether real or toy, alcoholic beverages and ci******es, illegal drugs, and gadgets intended for gaming during school hours. He explained that these rules are implemented to ensure the safety, discipline, and well-being of everyone within the school community.
Lastly, he ended the orientation with the reminder, โAng kaligtasan ng paaralan ay hindi lamang responsibilidad ng mga g**o at guard, kundi responsibilidad ng bawat estudyante. Ito ay upang mapanatili ang maayos at ligtas na kapaligiran sa paaralan.โ His closing message emphasized that maintaining a peaceful and secure learning environment requires the unity and cooperation of every member of the school community.
