Today’s Science Laboratory Orientation was a blast! Our curious junior high schoolers got their first glimpse into the thrilling world of lab experiments, safety protocols, and scientific discovery. 🧠⚗️
From goggles to microscopes, beakers to burners, we learned how to gear up, think critically, and explore responsibly. Science isn’t just about formulas—it’s about asking why, experimenting with how, and discovering what’s next.
To all our young scientists: this is just the beginning. Let the curiosity ignite and the experiments begin! 💡✨

🔬🍎 DIY Digestive System Experiment! 🍎🔬
Our Grade 8 students got hands-on with science by modeling the human digestive system using everyday items: crackers, juice, water, and pantyhose! 🧃🧂💧🧦----— guided by their passionate teacher Ms. Angela Manicdao and our helpful laboratory assistant Mrs. Ruby Joey N. Betangcor!
🧪 Materials:
• Crackers (to represent food)
• Water (to mimic saliva)
• Juice (to simulate stomach acid)
• Pantyhose (to act as the small intestine)
• Ziplock bag (as the stomach)
• Plastic cup and tray
👩‍🔬 Steps:
1. Chewing (Mouth): Students crushed crackers in a mortar and pestle — just like teeth breaking down food.
2. Saliva: They added water to the crackers to represent saliva mixing with food.
3. Stomach: Juice was added to simulate stomach acid. They squished the bag to mimic stomach churning.
4. Small Intestine: The mixture was poured into pantyhose stretched over a cup. Liquid passed through — just like nutrients being absorbed!
5. Large Intestine & Waste: The remaining solids in the pantyhose represented waste, showing what the body doesn’t absorb.
💡 Students learned how digestion transforms food into nutrients and energy, and how each organ plays a role in this amazing process.

🔬✨ Grade 3 Scientists Explore the Lab! ✨🔬
Our Grade 3 students had an unforgettable day in the science laboratory — guided by their passionate teacher Mrs. Emelda C. Atienza and our helpful laboratory assistant Mrs. Ruby Joey N. Betangcor! 👩‍🏫👨‍🔬🧒
They got hands-on with real lab equipment like beakers, test tubes, graduated cylinder, and magnifying glasses, learning how scientists use these tools to explore the world around us. 🧪🔍
🧫 Bonus Mini Tour!
Students also enjoyed a special side activity: using the microscope to view tiny objects up close! From rat tail to bird’s feather, they were amazed at the hidden details of everyday things. 🔬👀

Grade 5 Science Explorers!

Our young scientists had a full day of discovery with their science teacher Mr. Jamille John Patron and the support of laboratory assistant Ms. Ruby Joey N. Betangcor, diving into three exciting activities today in Basic Education Science Laboratory.
⚖️ Beam Balance Activity
Hands-on learning with beam balances helped students understand mass and measurement. They learned precision in weighing various objects.
🔬 Microscope Viewing
Students got up close with the microscopic world, observing tiny specimens and learning how magnification reveals hidden details. Curiosity was magnified—literally!
🚶‍♂️ Mini Tour
To wrap up the day, students enjoyed a mini tour that connected classroom concepts to real-world science. It was a fun and inspiring journey beyond the lab!

Grade 12 STEM students dive deep into the microscopic world, unveiling the cellular structure of Allium cepa (onion bulb) in today's fascinating biology lab session This activity was facilitated by their subject teacher, Ms. Hazel Joys B. Jamilla, alongside the support of laboratory assistant Ms. Ruby Joey N. Betangcor.

From identifying cell walls and nuclei to documenting observations with precision, learners embraced the challenge of translating theory into tangible lab experience. 🧪

ScienceKonek joins the world in observing this day dedicated to the field of microbiology and one with our scientists in highlighting the importance of understanding microorganisms to have a clearer picture of the world we live in.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟳? It was on this day in 1683 when Dutch scientist Antonie van Leeuwenhoek made a groundbreaking announcement to the Royal Society about his observations on 'animalcules', which we now call bacteria. This pivotal moment in science opened the 'hidden' world of microorganisms, and our love-hate relationship with them, to light.

As we commemorate Leeuwenhoek's historic announcement, we honor the dedicated microbiologists who have tirelessly studied these tiny organisms, helping us understand which are beneficial and which pose risks to our health and environment. Indeed, their work in microbiology has saved countless lives.

Together, let's support scientific research to further unlock microbiology’s potential for a healthier, more sustainable future!
