The Junior Philippine Computer Society – DWCC Chapter, in collaboration with the School of Information and Technology and DWCC Community Extension Services, successfully concluded Session 3 (Final Session) of the “𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦,” held on May 2, 2026, at the DWCC Computer Laboratory 3.

The final session focused on introducing students to 𝐌𝐒 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥, where participants learned basic spreadsheet functions such as data entry, simple formulas, and organizing information into tables. They explored how Excel can be used to manage data efficiently and perform basic computations. To assess their understanding, students participated in an interactive quiz, allowing them to apply what they learned and reinforce their knowledge through real-time feedback.

With continuous guidance from JPCS-DWCC and SIT student facilitators, the session provided a meaningful and engaging conclusion to the program. This final session not only strengthened the participants’ digital skills but also highlighted their growth and confidence in using essential productivity tools.

This initiative marks another step forward in empowering young learners and bridging the digital divide through education and technology.

The Junior Philippine Computer Society – DWCC Chapter, in collaboration with the School of Information and Technology and DWCC Community Extension Services, successfully conducted Session 2 of the “𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦,” held on April 25, 2026, at the DWCC Computer Laboratory 3.

The second session focused on developing students’ skills in MS Word and PowerPoint. Participants were introduced to basic document creation, text formatting, and layout design using MS Word, as well as creating simple and creative presentations in PowerPoint. They explored features such as inserting images, applying design themes, and organizing content effectively to present their ideas clearly. Hands-on activities and guided exercises allowed the students to practice and enhance their productivity skills in a fun and interactive way.

With the support of JPCS-DWCC and SIT student facilitators, the session provided an engaging learning experience that strengthened the participants’ confidence in using essential digital tools. This initiative continues to empower young learners by equipping them with practical skills for academic success in a technology-driven world.

The Junior Philippine Computer Society – DWCC Chapter, in collaboration with the School of Information and Technology and DWCC Community Extension Services, successfully conducted Session 1 of the “𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦” today, April 18, 2026, at the DWCC Computer Laboratory 2.

The first session focused on strengthening foundational digital skills of the students from Mary Help of Christians School (Mindoro), Inc. Participants were introduced to Basic Computer Navigation, explored their creativity using Paint, and engaged in typing activities to improve their keyboard proficiency. Interactive quiz apps were also incorporated to reinforce learning in a fun and engaging way, allowing students to apply what they learned through real-time feedback. Through guided hands-on activities and interactive discussions, student facilitators from JPCS-DWCC and SIT ensured an engaging and practical learning experience.

This initiative reflects the organization’s continuous mission to bridge the digital gap by equipping young learners with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in today’s technology-driven environment.

In celebration of Women’s Month, the Junior Philippine Computer Society – DWCC Chapter, in partnership with Philippine Coding Camp, successfully conducted the webinar “JPCS ITalks: AI Applications in IT Research and Capstone Projects” via Zoom.

The session was led by Engr. Mary Ann M. De Guzman, DevSecOps Engineer at Avaloq, who shared valuable insights on the integration of artificial intelligence in research and capstone development. As a woman thriving in the tech industry, she highlighted the growing impact and contributions of women in shaping innovation and advancing technology.

The webinar was attended by BSIT students of Divine Word College of Calapan, along with participants from various institutions. The discussion not only enhanced students’ understanding of AI applications but also inspired future IT professionals—especially women—to pursue and excel in the field of technology.
