Bachelor of Secondary Education’s “KolehIYAla” is a coming-of-age film that follows Aliya, a BSEd student struggling to survive the demands of college life. Fueled by her family, especially by the guidance and care of her mother, Iya has been able to keep clinging to her dreams, herself, and her purpose. But fate has a devastating turn, shaking Iya and the very foundation of her strength.

Directed by Jade Montero, this film presents an emotional journey of metamorphosis or transformation, dealing with loss, motivation, purpose, and the courage it takes to move forward.

Its storyline, pacing, and emotional build up gradually makes the film heavier and deeper, allowing the film to resonate more leaden on audiences' emotions. The cinematography reinforces a somber tone, creating a reflective atmosphere that invites viewers to examine their own journey and the reasons why they should continue it despite the unacceptable odds.
