To the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) Passers BSED - Major in English, your success was never built overnight because it was formed through sacrifices nobody saw, tears nobody heard, and battles you chose to fight quietly while carrying the weight of your dreams. There were days when exhaustion spoke louder than motivation and moments when failure seemed closer than victory, yet you continued walking even when the path no longer felt easy. Today, your name on that list stands as proof that determination can outrun fear, pain, and every doubt that once tried to stop you. You are now entering a profession where your words will heal, inspire, and change lives in ways you may never fully realize.

As the English Society celebrates the Labor Day, we find ourselves thinking not of grand speeches or parades alone, but of the quiet, persistent rhythm of work that underpins every story ever told.
Labor is the invisible ink beneath every published page. Before the novel reaches a reader's hands, there are months โ sometimes years โ of drafting, deleting, rewriting, and weeping over paragraphs that refuse to behave. The author labors. The editor labors. The proofreader pores over commas until their eyes blur. None of this is glamorous. All of it is essential.
But the English Society knows that labor extends far beyond the written word. It lives in the hands of the factory worker who comes home too tired to read but still opens a book to their child. It lives in the call center agent who dreams of writing poetry between calls. It lives in the janitor who cleans classrooms after midnight, the same classrooms where future novelists will sit and learn to love language.
We study the great works โ Dickens on industrial England, Steinbeck on the Dust Bowl migrants, Auden on the anonymous worker. They remind us that labor has always been literature's beating heart. No epic hero saves the world without first doing the work. No poem moves us unless someone bled over each line.
Today, we pause. Not because work has ended, but because we choose to see it clearly for once โ all of it, from the Nobel laureate's study to the delivery driver's front seat. All worthy. All story-worthy.
So as you celebrate, remember: you are the author of your own labor. And every honest day's work deserves a sentence that honors it.
Happy Labor Day.

On this Day of Valor, the English Society honors not only the heroes of Bataan and Corregidor but the very essence of courage itself. Their sacrifice speaks a language beyond wordsโone of resilience, honor, and love for country.
As an organization built on the power of expression, we believe it is our duty to keep their story alive. Valor is not just remembered; it is written, shared, and passed down through generations. Every essay, every speech, every line we craft carries the weight of their bravery.
Today, we remind every student: you too can be a hero. Not on a battlefield, but in the classrooms, in your communities, and in the truth you choose to speak. Let us honor the past by living with valor in the present.

โJesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.โ
John 11:25
The word resurrection is more than a term, it is a promise. From its roots meaning โto rise again,โ it reflects the very heart of the gospel: that life does not end in death, but is restored through Jesus Christ alone. This truth is not found in religion or human effort, but is revealed and fulfilled through His sacrifice.
But why did Jesus have to die?
The answer begins with the reality of sin. As written in Romans 3:23
โFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.โ
Sin separates humanity from God, and its consequence is death. Romans 6:23a states
โFor the wages of sin is deathโฆโ
Yet, the story does not end in deathโthis is where โresurrectionโ begins. The brokenness caused by sin is met with the love of God. In Romans 5:8
โBut God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.โ
This act of love opened the way to salvation.
As declared in John 3:16
โFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Sonโฆ that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.โ
Through His death and resurrection, Jesus became the only way to be saved. Acts 4:12 affirms
โNeither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.โ
The word โresurrectionโ becomes deeply meaningful. It reflects the journey from sin to salvation, from death to life. It represents what was once broken is made whole again through Christ.

They told her to be quiet, but she wrote. They told her to stay small, but she took up space on every page. Women in literature have always been more than charactersโthey've been the ones holding the pen, rewriting the rules, and refusing to be edited out of history. From the whispered poems of our grandmothers to the bold novels of today's Filipina writers, every word they've written is an act of courage. This National Women's Month, the English Society honors every woman whose truth is her masterpiece and whose voice is her legacy.
As future English educators, we inherit their legacy. We commit to teaching stories that honor the strength of every womanโthose in our books, in our classrooms, and in our lives. May we always be as beautiful and as brave as the women who came before us.
