History of UAPSA UPHSD-C
The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Calamba Campus has produced thousands of high quality graduates, some of whom are board topnotchers who are currently working in institutions/business owners here and in other countries. She introduced the newly established department to the duly-recognized student organization of the United Architects of the Philippines known as the UNITED ARCHITECTS OF THE PHILIPPINES STUDENT AUXILIARY. Through the efforts of the Architects Maria Teresita Salvo(Chapter President), Jose Angelo Lagman(Treasurer), Manuel Banatin of UAP Laguna Chapter, Glenn M. Llona(Faculty Member UAPSA-UPHSD-C Chapter Adviser) and Maria Elena Cayanan: the Formation and Recognition of UAPSA UPHSD-C Chapter was formally executed on the 5th day of October 2011. That same year, several activities are done by UAP Laguna with the cooperation of UAPSA UPHSD-C. In line with the National Architecture Week, a book donation project of UAP Laguna was done on December 7, 2011 at Southville 7 Elementary School in Calauan, Laguna. UAP Laguna was headed by Architects Tess Salvo Lilet Barias, J**s Yapchulay (VP for Prog. & Dev’t) and Joel Lagman. While UAPSA UPHSD-C was represented by its officers headed by its Chapter President (2011-2012), Mikee Cyril Andal and selected representatives. On December 9, 2011, the student organization’s mother-chapter celebrated their Christmas party together with UAPSA UPHSD-C with the theme: Paskong Pinoy which is held at Sta. Rosa Estates 2 Clubhouse in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The night was full of fun games, food, raffles, contests, and since it’s the season of giving exchange gifts is present as always. The second year for the organization was headed by their new Chapter President, Richard Christian Peñaflor, It was this very same fiscal year wherein they participated their first National Congress entitled PARADIGM SHIFT. With five delegates coming from the UPHSD-C Campus – the organization’s chapter President together with Jasper Amiel Jean Manguiat (VP), Zsenille Opeña (Asst. Treasurer), Dave Galang and Edgar Logdonio learned new things, compete, explored and have fun in Palawan and lodge at the Sheridan Beach Resort. last April 12-14, 2013. It might be their first time joining such event but the five delegates took home a special award winning in the ARCHITECTURAL WORKSHOP - BIOMIMICRY IN ARCHITECTURE: EVOLUTIONARY FORM FINDING TECHNIQUES. As the 2013-2014 Fiscal Year enters, the organization became busier than before. Headed by Zsenille Opeña (the newly elected Chater President) they joined in almost every event the UAP-Laguna Chapter, UAP & UAPSA National has to offer. Invited by their Mother-Chapter they started with the Blood Let Event held last June 2013. Several meetings also took place between the UAP Laguna Chapter and UAPSA-UPHSD-C Chapter for UAP Laguna’s 20th Induction and Turnover ceremonies. Thirteen representatives came and assisted in to the said event and was also in charge of the entertainment. UAPSA National Board of Directors reached out the UPHSD-C Chapter for their concerns and matters which weren’t really given emphasis for the last two years. Headed by UAPSA National President – Paolo Mendoza, Executive Vice President – Jose Miguel Guevarra, and District B3-B4 Ivan Lantin drove all the way from Manila to UPHSD-C’s humble campus. Since the establishment of the said organization, they actively participated in some of the annual national events hosted by UAP & UAPSA National namely the CONEX Convention & The CONFAB: Seminar and Thesis Consultation. With four delegates coming from their chapter they participated in the three day event, the QUADRIPARTITE which compose of the REDOX, the UAPSA ‟13-„14 Board Induction Ceremony and Acquaintance Party, FLARE, the National Leadership Development Program (LDP) , and SYNTHESIS, the Grand Chapter Presidents‟ Assembly (CPA) and Council of Secretaries. Representing their chapter, Zsenille Opeña, Joselle Marie Viray (Chapter Secretary), Jose Antonio Xerex-Burgos (Chapter Asst. Secretary) and Kris Jon Jay Aranilla (Chapter Treasurer). Together they attended the said event on the 24th to 26th day of August 2013. Mesmerized by Ar. Mike Guerrero’s topic with “10 points to Sustainability”, the UAPSA-UPHSD-C Chapter were privileged enough to be in invited in UAP Laguna Chapter’s GMM last September 2013. Last October 5, 2013, the World Day of Architecture (WDA) was celebrated at UPHSD-C Campus together with the UPHSD-C Architecture students. The main highlight of the event is the poster making contest with 24 participants. Again this was made possible through the efforts of the organization’s Mother-Chapter. October 7, 2013 is the National WDA Celebration which is held at Market! Market! Taguig City. Some UAPSA UPHSD-C members and officers were part of the organizing committee of the said event and also took part in some of the competitions. Proud of the achievement the participants in the Lego Competition – John Anthony Paner, Carlo Vinci Paner and John Carlo Bagual took home the 3rd place in the Lego Competition. The chapter also participated in the fashion show held on the same day. A Creative Wear designed by Janelle Maquipoten was gracefully showcased by Sarah Canlobo being the model. With the aid of helping the students to expand their learning, a aeminar and induction ceremony entitled RELOADED was held at the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA – Calamba Campus last October 2013. UAP Laguna Chapter being very supportive of the UAPSA-UPHSD-C, students from the organization was able to took part in the “BIGKIS” - Area B Assembly last October 19-21, 2013 at Club Balai Isabel, Talisay, Batangas
For the pioneer event of the UPHSD-C Chapter on the the Second Semester, they Celebrated the National Architecture Week 2013 on the 27th to 29th of November. Students from the Architecture Department participated on the three day event. Last November 30, 2013, a seminar entitled RISING FROM THE RUINS: THE ARCHITECTS ROLE IN REBUILDING was hosted by The United Architects of the Philippines Committee on Media and Public Relations. Many of the chapter members attended on the said seminar held at the UAP Headquarters. As time goes by, UAPSA-UPHSD-C Chapter will continue to soar high and stand strong continuing the legacy of what has been started since the day it was established.
