SMSI warmly congratulates our Grade 9 student, Ms. Keann Erica L. Rivero, for achieving 1st Runner-Up in the recently concluded Ginoo at Binibining Palo Alto 2026.

Keannโ€™s achievement reflects more than grace and confidenceโ€”it speaks of a young leader who truly leads with purpose. As an officer of the Supreme Student Government and Captain Ball of the womenโ€™s volleyball team, she consistently demonstrates leadership grounded in empathy, integrity, and accountability. Her dedication to excellence is further evident as a consistent honor student, balancing academics and leadership with admirable commitment.

In this milestone, we also extend our heartfelt gratitude to her parents and family for their unwavering support and guidance. Together, we share a mission of forming well-rounded individuals, and Keannโ€™s journey is a meaningful reflection of this shared commitment.

Keann, you embody SMSIโ€™s core values of character, competence, and social responsibility. Your SMSI family celebrates this achievement with you and is grateful to witness your continued growth and dedication.

We look forward to seeing you continue to inspire others and make a meaningful impact.

On this Easter Sunday, we reflect on Jesus' resurrection as a message of hope that resonates with our current reality. Numerous individuals in our community encounter difficulties like increasing living expenses, unequal educational opportunities, and the proliferation of false information on the internet. The vacant grave signifies that gloom and hopelessness do not hold the ultimate authority. In our everyday lives, this can signify prioritizing honesty instead of ease, assisting peers who find it challenging, and standing up for what is just even when it is tough.

The narrative of the resurrection urges us to restore trust and empathy within our school and in the larger community. By listening to each other, honoring our differences, and behaving with compassion, we contribute to that renewal. Little deeds are significant. A communal meal, a supportive gesture, an honest message can embody the same essence of fresh beginnings.

As we observe Easter, let us embody its significance in our decisions. Hope is not merely an emotion we experience, but a reality we embody. Through our speech and deeds, we can illuminate areas that require brightness the most.

โ€ŽThis is one of the many words of wisdom that Prof. Lielanie O. Barrion, guest speaker of 16th Commencement Exercises, told to the JHS completers of SMSI.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe guest speaker described the completers as members of digital generation. "You learned how to search before you memorize, how to connect online even during times when you are physically apart, and how to continue learning despite disruptions like online classes, unstable Internet, and moments when motivation was hard to find", Prof. Barrion specifically described the digital generation where Grade 10 completers belong.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽProf. Barrion added that the disruptions and challenges that the completers faced had served as catalysts of growth for them. She also reminded that, as the completers move towards senior high school, the challenges that they will face will mold them for better.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽA highlight of her speech is when Prof. Barrion asked the completers to go to their parents and give them a hug. As the completers hugged and thanked their parents, the guest speaker told, "To our dear parents, today is your triumph as well. Behind every graduate is a parent to sacrifice who work long hours, set aside personal needs, face financial struggles and carried silent worries just to give their child a chance and a better future."
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe guest speaker also reminded the completers to "use technology wisely, stay grounded in (their) values, and never forget that true success is measured not only by what (they) achieve, but by who (they) become."
โ€Ž
โ€ŽProf. Barrion ended her speech by stating, "The future may be uncertain, but one thing is clear, you have the strength to face it. Inhanda kayo ng Southhill Montessori School upang harapin ang pagsubok ng buhay, labanan ito, at pagtagumpayan."

โ€ŽThese are the words of Kristine Jade Oรฑa during her speech of gratitude during the 16th Commencement Exercises of SMSI on March 31.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽOรฑa gave thanks on behalf of her now-batchmates to the people of SMSI: to school president Capt. Amado Punsalan, Jr., school directress Mrs. Francis Punsalan, school principal Dr. Alvin Navarro, and to her previous advisers Ms. Juvy Jhynne Parra, Ms. Anna Rose Sercado, and Mrs. Emerlyn Joy Ejercito.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe Capt. Amado Punsalan Academic Excellence Awardee also looked back on her memories with her classmates. "I still remember how we all started nervous, uncertain and unsure of ourselves and of each other. But somewhere along the way we grew", Oรฑa told in her speech.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽBeing one of her inspirations, Oรฑa also gave a special thanks to her parents in her speech. Teary-eyed, she thanked her parents, "You have guided me through every step of this journey, supported me through my weakest moments, and believe in me even when I doubted myself. Because of you, I am standing here today. Every achievement I have received I dedicate to both of you. You are my greatest motivation and I will always share your love with me in everything I do".
โ€Ž
โ€ŽLastly, Oรฑa thanked God for being her strength in times of doubt and challenge.

โ€ŽMs. Michelle Torres, guest speaker of the 16th Graduation Ceremony for Pre-elementary and Elementary Department of SMSI, reminded the following words to SMSI Class of 2026 in her speech yesterday.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe speech of the former SMSI preschool teacher is centered on the DepEd theme of Graduation 2026: "Filipino Graduates: Prepared to Lead with Competence and Character". Torres shared her past experiences as a student-leader, which made her learn to become independent. She also cited that she is grateful of how people around her shaped her resilience.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe commencement speaker also enumerated the qualities of a leader: di palaaway, di palautos, di perpekto pero marunong matuto at magpakumbaba. Torres also added, "Leadership is about how many people you have helped."
โ€Ž
โ€ŽTorres also urged parents of the graduates to let children experience things that will help their child grow. "We should stop say, 'Wala, ganyan talaga ang generation nila'. No. Nasa atin pa rin pong mga magulang at mga gumagabay para maging mabuting bata ang ating mga anak", she underscored.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe guest speaker also inspired students to dream big. "It's your first big step. keep dreaming, keep learning, and keep smiling", she told to the kindergarten graduates. She also congratulated the Grade 6 graduates who were once her students: "Handa na kayong humarap sa panibagong yugto ng inyong buhay. Mas malaking mundo ang naghihintay sa inyo", she told them. She even urged the graduates to start dreaming. "Hindi kailangang maging perpekto para magsimula. Kailangan niyo lang maging matapang para mangarap", Torres urged.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽMs. Torres also thanked SMSI teachers and parents of the graduates for their vital help and efforts in teaching and rearing their children.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽImportantly, Ms. Torres expressed her optimism towards the future of the graduates. "Ang mundo ay di nangangailangan ng perpektong tao. Ang mundo ay nangangailangan ng mga taong may mabuting puso, may paninindigan, at may malasakit sa kapuwa. At naniniwala po ako na kayo iyon (graduates)", she expressed.
