Ngayong Araw ng mga Manggagawa, ipinagdiriwang natin ang kanilang buong tiyaga at sakripisyo. Sapagkat ang kaunlaran ay hindi mabubuo kung wala ang mapagmahal na mga kamay, at ang kinabukasan ay hindi uusad kung wala ang inyong tibay at malasakit.

Ngunit habang ang dagat ay pabago-bago ang panahon at lalo pang nagiging marahas, naroroon pa rin ang mga mangingisda na unang sumasalubong sa alon ng panganib. Kahit walang kasiguraduhan kung may mahuhuli, patuloy pa rin silang sumasagwan.

Sa mga magsasakang binibilad sa araw at nilulunod sa ulan, umaasa sa lupang unti-unting kinukuha sa kanila, habang ang ani’y binabarat at ang kita’y hindi sapat para sa sariling hapag.

Sa mga drayber na paulit-ulit ang biyahe, nakikipagsiksikan sa trapiko, hinahabol ang tumataas na presyo ng krudo kahit pa bumababa ang natitira sa kanila.

Sa mga construction worker na nagtatayo ng matatayog na gusali ngunit walang kasiguraduhang matibay ang kanilang tinitirahan.

At sa mga delivery rider na nakikipag-unahan sa oras at panganib upang maibigay ang pangangailangan ng iba.

Sa bawat manggagawang nagtitiyaga at kumakayod — kayo ang tunay na mukha ng Pilipino. Hindi ito romantisado, hindi rin magaan, ngunit puno ng pagod at pagmamahal na magsilbi sa bayan. Habang ipinagdiriwang ang araw na ito, paulit-ulit rin nitong ipinapaalala kung sino ang tunay na bumubuhat sa ating lipunan.

Sapagkat sa bansang sanay sa sakripisyo ng marami, ang tanong ay hindi kung gaano pa natin kayang magtiis, kundi kung kailan magiging sapat ang lahat ng ito.
