Filipinas Gran líder José Rizàl all about our national Hero Rizal was a multi-talented man who excelled in both science and the arts.

He created sculptures and woodcarvings as well as painting and sketching. He was a prolific author, essayist, and writer, best known for his two novels, Noli Me Tángere and El filibusterismo. Married at : Josephine Bracken

Accomplishments:

Rizal attended the Ateneo De Manila University, earning a Bachelors of Arts. He enrolled in Medicine and Philosophy and Letters at the University of Santo Th

omas and then traveled alone to Madrid, Spain where he continued his studies at the Universidad Central de Madrid, earning the degree of Licentiate in Medicine. He attended the University of Paris and earned a second doctorate at the University of Heidelberg, Rizal was a polyglot conversant in at least ten languages. He was a prolific poet, essayist, diarist, correspondent, and novelist whose most famous works were his two novels, Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. these are social commentaries on the Philippines that formed the nucleus of literature that inspired dissent among peaceful reformists and spurred the militancy of armed revolutionaries against the Spanish colonial authorities. José Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines, wrote many political pieces which expressed the feelings of many about the Spanish colonization and the potential for a democracy.

The first poem written by Dr. Jose Rizal during his third academic year in Ateneo de Municipal. He wrote the poem in 1874, before he turned 14. He was delighted to see his mother, Doña Teodora Alonso, released from prison.
