𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 || 𝐍𝐄𝐌𝐒𝐔–𝐂𝐀𝐆𝐖𝐀𝐈𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐔𝐒 𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐂 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓 𝐒𝐔𝐂𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐒 𝟏𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍
The North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU)–Cagwait Campus ROTC Unit successfully conducted its First Formation on 05 September 2026 at the NEMSU–Cagwait Campus, formally marking the commencement of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) activities for Academic Year 2026–2027.
The First Formation served as an important opening activity for the new training year, bringing together the Basic ROTC Cadets and Cadettes for accountability, orientation, registration, military instruction, and the initial application of fundamental military bearing and drill movements.
The activity was conducted under the supervision of Admin NCO, SGT. ROBERTO B. CAÑEDO (INF) PA, together with SGT. JAZZER JERIC RANCES PA (RES), Tactical NCO, and with the assistance of the Graduate Military Assistants (GMAs). Their supervision ensured the orderly conduct of the formation and the proper implementation of the activities throughout the training period.
The activity commenced with an opening prayer, followed by the accounting and attendance of the cadets and cadettes. A total of 316 Basic ROTC Cadets were recorded and accounted for. The formation and attendance were closely monitored by the Tactical NCO, with the assistance of the GMAs, emphasizing the importance of accountability, punctuality, organization, discipline, and proper military bearing among the cadets.
At 1000H, classroom instruction commenced at the NEMSU–Cagwait 3-Storey Building. The session was facilitated by SGT. ELNITA G CAÑEDO PA (RES), with the assistance and support of thirteen (13) Second Class (2CL) and eleven (11) First Class (1CL) Advanced ROTC Officers.
One of the primary objectives of the classroom instruction was to guide the cadets and cadettes in completing their registration through the ROTC Management Information System (ROTCMIS) Cadet Portal. The session emphasized the importance of providing accurate information, completing registration requirements properly, and utilizing the ROTCMIS Cadet Portal to maintain proper documentation and accountability throughout their ROTC training.
Following the registration and classroom instruction, the cadets and cadettes were directed to form up for practical military instruction. The training introduced and reinforced fundamental concepts of military bearing, proper formation, basic drill commands, body movements, coordination, discipline, and responsiveness to commands.
The initial drill instruction focused on developing the cadets’ ability to execute commands with precision, uniformity, alertness, and discipline. Through continuous practice and proper supervision, the training aimed to establish the foundation for more advanced military skills and activities in the succeeding ROTC training sessions.
The First Formation also emphasized that ROTC is not merely about learning drill movements. It is a program designed to cultivate discipline, leadership, teamwork, responsibility, patriotism, physical fitness, respect for authority, and a strong sense of service to the community and the nation.
The activity successfully concluded at 1200H. The conduct of the First Formation was reported by CDT LTC RICKY JR. C. VISTAL, 1CL, Corps Commander of the NEMSU–Cagwait Campus ROTC Unit, together with his staff. All cadets and cadettes were properly accounted for and safely dismissed after the completion of the scheduled activities.
The successful conduct of the First Formation marks the beginning of another year of training, learning, discipline, and leadership development for the NEMSU–Cagwait Campus ROTC Unit. It reflects the collective commitment of the ROTC Cadets, Advanced ROTC Officers, GMAs, Tactical Staff, and Training Staff to uphold the standards and objectives of the ROTC Program.
Through consistent training and proper guidance, the NEMSU–Cagwait Campus ROTC Unit remains committed to developing disciplined, responsible, competent, and service-oriented future citizen-soldiers who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to their community and country.
The NEMSU–Cagwait Campus ROTC Unit, in coordination with the 1504th Community Defense Center (1504CDC), continues to strengthen the implementation of the ROTC Program and its mission of developing the youth into capable and responsible members of the nation’s reserve force.
