This research initiative describes the implementation of a digital collage project as an instructional design strategy to engage college students through visual storytelling. Conducted within a Science, Technology, and Society (STS) course at CCCDO, the project used Canva as a collaborative design platform to help students explore sustainability themes within their community context. Working in small groups, students created digital collages that visually represented local environmental challenges and proposed community-based solutions aligned with SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). The instructional approach integrated project-based learning, multimodal design, and technology-enhanced collaboration โ€” resulting in digital artifacts that reflected themes such as urban resilience, sustainable transport, waste management, clean energy, and community sustainability.

Analysis of student outputs and reflections revealed increased engagement, deeper connections between global sustainability concepts and local realities, and stronger civic awareness among learners. By positioning this implementation as an instructional design model, the article offers a practical and transferable framework for integrating digital visual storytelling into sustainability-focused coursework across diverse higher education contexts. The research aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly ๐’๐ƒ๐† ๐Ÿ’ (Quality Education) through innovative and participatory instructional design, ๐’๐ƒ๐† ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by embedding urban sustainability themes into classroom learning, and ๐’๐ƒ๐† ๐Ÿ— (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the integration of digital tools and technology-enhanced collaboration in education.
