The College of Education of City College of Cagayan de Oro participated in the Consultative Meeting and Re-Learning session on Policies, Standards, and Guidelines for the Teacher Education Program, held at N Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City on August 8, 2025, facilitated by the Commission on Higher Education - Region X.

The event gathered various stakeholders to review and refresh their understanding of policies shaping teacher education, and to ensure alignment of academic delivery with current CHED mandates and quality assurance frameworks. The meeting emphasized the importance of integrating recent policy developments into classroom instruction, practicum supervision, and program assessment to maintain the relevance and competitiveness of the institution’s teacher education offerings.

Dr. Liza L. Chua, Dean, College of Education; and Dr. Charlito M. Castrodes, Associate Dean, College of Education, represented the college at this significant gathering. The meeting offered attendees an opportunity to discuss the evolving standards and guidelines necessary to ensure quality education, updates on program outcomes, curriculum standards, and institutional compliance requirements. Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, and national frameworks.

This initiative demonstrates the college’s steadfast commitment to staying updated and responsive to developments in teacher education, ensuring its programs remain timely, impactful, and capable of equipping future educators with the skills and competencies they need.

The City College of Cagayan de Oro proudly led this week's LGU-CDO Monday convocation at the City Hall, featuring department updates, employee recognition, and a special production number. The event also honored Women’s Month and Fire Prevention Month.

CCCDO delivered a heartfelt production number with a song and interpretative dance, highlighting the power of education in transforming lives. The performance concluded with the jingle, emphasizing the importance of resilience and determination in overcoming setbacks.

On behalf of City College of CDO President Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, the institution extends its gratitude to Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy and the 20th City Council, led by Vice Mayor Jocelyn "Bebot" Rodriguez, for their continued support and ensuring that free, quality education remains accessible to Kagay-anon youth and individuals seeking new opportunities, paving the way for transformed lives.

On February 17, 2025, the 20th City Council officially approved Resolution No. 2025-974 during its 112th Regular Session, confirming the appointment of Dr. Jestoni P. Babia as the University College (UC) President III item 21 with SG 29 of the City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO).

In the previous 111th Regular Session, the council agreed to conduct further deliberations by inviting concerned agencies, attended personnel from Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Department of Budget and Management (DBM), for discussion, chaired by Majority Floor Leader, Hon. Edgar S. Cabanlas, which helped clarify key matters before the said final decision.

The CCCDO community wholeheartedly thanks 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗦𝘂𝘇𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗚. 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝘁𝗮𝗷𝗮𝘀-𝗗𝗮𝗯𝗮, 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, for her tireless advocacy in advancing equitable education. Meanwhile, the council has also acknowledged that 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗬𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗬𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗕. 𝗘𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗼, 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗼 𝗠. 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀, 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗼 𝗚. 𝗦𝘂𝗮𝗻, and 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗜𝗺𝗲𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗣. 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗼 abstained from the vote.

The approval of the resolution is a key step toward securing Institutional Recognition (IR), paving the way for CCCDO to broaden its reach to more Kagay-anon youth who has limited access to learning opportunities.

As the institution moves forward, it remains committed to its mission empowering students to for a brighter future.
