Empowerment in Action: RealTalk Series 4 ๐ฅ
In celebration of Fire Prevention Month and in support of the governmentโs year-round Drug Education and Drug Abuse Prevention Advocacy, the NSTP Department conducted RealTalk Series 4: Symposium on Fire Safety Training and Anti-Drug Campaign on March 28, 2026 at the City College of Cagayan de Oro AVR.
With the theme โEmpowering the Youth Towards Safety, Discipline, and Drug-Free Communities,โ NSTP students participated in a meaningful learning session focused on fire safety, disaster preparedness, and drug awareness.
The activity opened with inspiring remarks from NSTP Director Candice May B. Gamayon, emphasizing the role of students as responsible citizens and partners in community safety and prevention programs.
Patrolman Tito G Sano III from the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) delivered a lecture on drug awareness, crime prevention, and the importance of youth participation in promoting drug-free and peaceful communities.
Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection โ Puerto Fire Station conducted fire safety training and demonstrations:
FO3 Jun P Cagampang discussed the mandates of the Bureau of Fire Protection and explained the chemistry and common causes of fire.
FO1 Stephen William L Payot explained the classification of fires and the proper fire suppression methods.
FO1 Lorrie Ney A Taneo conducted a hands-on demonstration on the proper use of fire extinguishers.

EMPOWERING TOMORROWโS LEADERS: SYMPOSIUM-WORKSHOP 2026

On March 14, 2026, the City College of CDO AVR was filled with inspiration as our NSTP Students (LTS & CWTS) attended the LEADERSHIP: SELF-AWARENESS, VALUES, AND VOLUNTEERISM SYMPOSIUM-WORKSHOP.
We were honored to have the Vocational School Administrator of the Technical Skills and Technology Institute, Mr. Karl Hein M. Pios, LPT, as our guest speaker, who shared his expertise on the core of true leadership.
This initiative directly advances SDG 4 (Quality Education), particularly Target 4.7, by equipping learners with the global citizenship skills essential for sustainable development.
Furthermore, by cultivating volunteerism and shared values, we strengthen community resilience and inclusivity in alignment with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Duck, Cover, and Hold for a Safer Tomorrow!
Last March 12, our NSTP students showed that they are ready for anything! At exactly 3:30 PM, the City College of CDO conducted the 1st Quarter NSED in compliance with MD IV No. 061, s. 2026.
We don't just study safety; we live it! This drill aligns with our commitment to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by fostering a campus-wide culture of disaster preparedness.

In compliance with Proclamation No. 907 and the National Hazing Prevention Week mandate, the City College of Cagayan de Oro is committed to fostering a secure and conducive academic environment. The Office of Student Affairs and Services, in collaboration with the National Service Training Program (NSTP), will conduct a mandatory public orientation to discuss the following:
- Anti-Hazing Policy of the City College of Cagayan de Oro (pursuant to the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018)
- Drug-Free School Policy (anchored on Republic Act No. 9165 and CMO No. 18, s. 2018)
All students are required to attend their respective sessions on February 13, 2026:
First-Year Students: 9:00 AM โ 12:00 PM
Second-Year Students: 1:00 PM โ 4:00 PM
This orientation ensures that every stakeholder understands the severe administrative and legal consequences of violating these policies. Compliance is mandatory to prioritize the safety, dignity, and well-being of our entire student body.

As we step into 2026 with renewed hope and commitment, the City College of Cagayan de Oro, through the National Service Training Program (NSTP), proudly looks back on a meaningful Tree Planting Activity conducted on December 19, 2025 at Macasandig Rio Boulevard, in cooperation with the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO).
This initiative reflects the true essence of volunteerism and service-learning, made possible by the dedication and collective action of our NSTP student-volunteers. Through hands-on participation, students strengthened their ecological awareness, practiced environmental responsibility, and actively contributed to community-building beyond the classroom.
More than planting trees, the activity planted valuesโcare for the environment, shared responsibility, and civic engagementโthat will continue to grow in the years ahead. It stands as a testament to NSTPโs mission of shaping socially responsible, environmentally conscious, and service-driven citizens ready to serve both community and nation.

The NSTP Department proudly celebrates its achievement as ๐ฅ 2๐ท๐ญ ๐๐ต๐ช๐ฌ๐ฎ โ ๐๐ท๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐พ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ธ๐ท๐ช๐ต ๐๐ช๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ป๐ awardee for Project LIGTAS during the ACES Summit 2025, held at the City Tourism Hall on November 29, 2025.
Project LIGTAS is an NSTP community extension initiative anchored on volunteerism, safety preparedness, basic first aid, and risk awareness, empowering students and communities to respond effectively to emergencies while fostering active citizenship and service-oriented leadership.
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)โparticularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)โthe project reflects the transformative role of volunteer-driven, community-centered extension programs.

The City College of Cagayan de Oro, through the NSTP Department, successfully concluded REAL TALK 2, a meaningful initiative designed to strengthen awareness, deepen understanding, and promote responsible citizenship among our NSTP students.
REAL TALK 2 highlighted timely discussions on SOGIE and safe spaces, youth awareness on national security and anti-insurgency, and NSTP pathways to volunteerism and preparedness. Students actively participated throughout the program, demonstrating their commitment to fostering a safer, more inclusive, and socially aware community.
๐๏ธ A Special Visit from the Office of Civil Defense Region X
We were honored by the personal visit and inspiring message of Regional Director Antonio B. Sugarol of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Region X.
Director Sugarol emphasized the vital role of the National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC) as provided under the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Law, or Republic Act 9163.
He highlighted that the NSRC serves as a pool of trained and committed Filipino youth who may be mobilized for civic welfare, disaster response, and community serviceโunderscoring that NSTP graduates are not only students but also nation-builders entrusted with service, preparedness, and civic responsibility.
His presence brought inspiration to the students, reinforcing the importance of readiness, volunteerism, and active citizenship in nation-building.
