On March 25, 2024, the 4th XUMUN Conference Position Paper Training via Zoom was an essential stepping stone for delegates in crafting their impactful position papers. From 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, delegates honed their writing skills and deepened their understanding of global issues, all in preparation for the Mock XUMUN Conference on April 3, 2024, and the main XUMUN Conference event on April 6, 2024!

A look back on XUMUN 2018!

As part of the celebration for this year’s International Studies (IS) week, the Ateneo Diplomatic Corps (ADC) hosted the first ever Xavier University Model United Nations (XU MUN) in partnership with American Corner-CDO through Mrs. Estrella Cabudoy on February 3 at the American Spaces.

The event was divided into two parts. The first half of the event was focused primarily on providing an orientation to the delegates on the proceedings of a typical MUN session. It was headed by XU MUN Secretary General Ted Lago, along with his protege, Rhona Mecarte. The morning session also included a talk by Mrs. Cabudoy regarding Human Rights and a brief history of MUN. Delegates then experienced a real-time application of a MUN session in the afternoon.

During the XU MUN, 2 simulation issues were tackled. These were USA’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and the current state of South Sudan.

The event was facilitated by Rhona Mecarte who acted as the Chairwoman. Acting delegates in the XU MUN were XU students from different colleges. The event was open to all.

A MUN is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically role play as delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN Committees.

This is it, Xavier Ateneo! The Xavier University Model United Nations will be conducting its 4th XUMUN Conference this April 6, 2024, and we want YOU - yes you! To be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to test your skills, wit, and knowledge in the intricate world of diplomacy.

With the theme “Strengthening cooperation and collaboration amidst global crises” the 4th installment of the conference will focus on global blue economy and the current refugee crises existing within the international community.
