We are excited to invite you to “Along the Lines: Songwriting Workshop and Open Mic”—a fun and engaging event that encourages students to explore their creativity through music and songwriting.

The workshop will be facilitated by Eeyan Paolo, a local artist from CDO and a composition major from Liceo de Cagayan University, in partnership with the Conservatory of Music - Student Body Organization of Liceo de Cagayan University and USTP Playmakers of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines.

The workshop is 𝙊𝙋𝙀𝙉 𝙏𝙊 𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙎𝙏𝙐𝘿𝙀𝙉𝙏𝙎 . This will feature an interactive lecture and engaging activities introducing the basics of songwriting. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate, express their creativity, and build confidence in sharing their ideas through music. The open mic will provide a supportive space for showcasing original compositions.

Artist Spotlight: The Voice Behind the "Risk It All" Bisaya Cover

A Conversation with Clint John Nacua Mila of USTP Playmakers
In the local music scene, some artists sing to be heard, while others sing to connect. For Clint, a dedicated member of the USTP Playmakers, music is the bridge between his inner world and the audience. After his soul-stirring Bisaya rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Risk It All” caught our attention, we sat down with him to discuss his creative spark and the journey from a shy performer to a confident stage presence.

On the Language of Expression

Interviewer: Clint, your music always feels deeply personal. When you look back at your journey, what would you say truly inspired you to start making music in the first place?

Clint: For me, it has always been about the power of expression. I love the way music allows me to say things that words alone sometimes can’t. I’ve found that only singing and music feel like a genuine way I can really connect with people on a deeper level.

Beyond that internal drive, being part of a community like Playmakers is a constant source of inspiration. Seeing everyone else so passionate about their craft makes me want to learn more and keep pushing my own boundaries. It’s that shared energy that keeps the fire going.

Finding His Voice in the Spotlight

Interviewer: Many performers struggle with the transition from practicing in private to standing under the lights. How has your experience with Playmakers shaped you as a singer and a performer?

Clint: It’s been a massive shift. If you knew me before, my confidence wasn’t actually that high. I used to be incredibly shy whenever it came to presenting or performing on stage. But being in this environment changed that; Playmakers helped me build the confidence I was missing.

Now, I can actually stand and perform in front of many people without that old hesitation. Being surrounded by such talented singers every day pushes me to improve and always give my best. It’s that healthy pressure—seeing how good everyone else is—that motivates me to keep growing as an artist.

The Soundboard Session: 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭’𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐭 🎶

We are incredibly proud to spotlight one of our own: Paul Jessbert, a dedicated member of the Playmakers family, has just officially released two debut singles on all streaming platforms!

Paul’s journey is a powerful reminder that silence isn't always the end—sometimes, it’s just the preparation. Seven years ago, Paul stopped singing when his voice changed, fearing he’d lost his ability to reach the notes he once loved. But after rediscovering his passion through the soulful music of Arthur Nery and finding deep encouragement within our Playmakers community, he decided it was time to step back into the light.

When he saw his fellow Playmakers taking the leap, the spark was ignited. Paul stopped waiting for the "perfect" gear and started creating from his own bedroom, turning his emotions, beats, and lyrics into his own unique sound. He proved that if you have the drive, you can build it all from scratch.

"Ghost of You" is a raw, soulful exploration of a love that ended without a proper goodbye. It’s for anyone who has ever felt haunted by the presence of a person who is no longer there—a love so pure it creates its own apparitions. It’s a track for the brave: for those who have the courage to ask the difficult questions just to feel alive again.
