Ready for our first challenge statement for this year's RSC ?
First is on the category of Energy Efficiency, "how might we encourage end-users to practice energy efficiency and conservation to help them achieve sustainability targets, acquire costs savings, and reduce GHG emissions?"
To have a more in-depth understanding of this problem, check out this sample case study:
"Energy efficiency and conservation (EE&C) is one of the fastest, cost-effective ways to reduce operational costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions alongside other co-benefits.
The Philippines, in solidarity with the international community in addressing climate change, institutionalized EE&C as a national way of life in 2019 through Republic Act No. 11285 (also known as the EE&C Act). The law is viewed as an industry game-changer, requiring identified establishments to submit energy consumption reports and to integrate an energy management system in their operations.
Innovative solutions are staples of EE&C projects and programs. Some sample solutions include smart power meters, which capture real-time energy consumption data, typically presented elegantly in an online portal and analyzed to find where cost-effective potential gains can be made. The collected data also equips the decision-makers to make informed decisions, recognize and plan tailored EE&C plans and programs.
Some other examples of innovations under the EE&C sector are equipment efficiency improvements, HVAC and chiller optimization, load curve and pricing optimization, facade solutions to decrease energy use, intelligent building solutions, among many others."
If you have any idea how we can solve this problem or at least want to try, make sure to apply so we can help you turn that idea into something that creates actual impact!!
