SDRRM Incident Report: Fire Incident Near Puerto Elementary School

Date: August 19, 2026
Time of Incident: Approximately 9:45 AM
Location: Baloc-Baloc, Purok 3, Puerto, Cagayan de Oro City
Affected Area: Vicinity at the back of Puerto Elementary School

At approximately 9:45 AM on August 19, 2026, a fire broke out at Baloc-Baloc, Purok 3, Puerto, Cagayan de Oro City, located just at the back of Puerto Elementary School.

Upon learning of the incident, the school immediately implemented its emergency evacuation procedures. All pupils and school personnel were safely evacuated to the designated emergency assembly areas. An accounting of pupils and personnel was conducted, and everyone was confirmed safe.

After assessment and upon the recommendation of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), pupils and personnel were allowed to return safely to their respective classrooms and resume regular school activities.

The School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) Team closely monitored the situation and coordinated with the appropriate authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the entire school community.

Status: ALL PUPILS AND PERSONNEL ARE SAFE.

The school expresses its appreciation to the Bureau of Fire Protection and all responders for their prompt assistance and guidance during the incident.

📢 SUSPENSION OF CLASSES | PUERTO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Dear Parents/Guardians and Learners,

Due to the high heat index monitoring by PAGASA-Mindanao PRSD at its Laguindingan Airport, Misamis Oriental Station as of August 12, 2026, with a 2-day forecast of 43°C (DANGER CLASSIFICATION) for August 13 and 14, 2026, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy has announced the suspension of classes in all public schools from preschool to high school levels on:

📌 Thursday, August 13, 2026
📌 Friday, August 14, 2026

Accordingly, classes at Puerto Elementary School are SUSPENDED on the said dates.

📚 However, learning will continue through Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM). Learners are advised to accomplish the assigned ADM learning activities during the suspension of face-to-face classes.

This measure is implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of our learners and school personnel amid the dangerous heat conditions.

Please keep our learners safe, hydrated, and protected from excessive heat.

DUE to the high heat index monitoring by PAGASA-Mindanao PRSD in it’s Laguindingan Airport, Misamis Oriental Station as of August 12, 2026, with a 2-day forecast of 43 degrees celsius (DANGER CLASSIFICATION) for August 13 and 14, 2026, CDO City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy will suspend classes in all public schools from pre-school to high school levels on Thursday and Friday, August 13 and 14, 2026, respectively.

However, suspension of classes for private pre-school to high school levels and higher education institutions (HEI's) shall be left to the sound wisdom and discretion of their respective principals/administrators/school heads.

An Executive Order formalizing the class suspension will follow.
