After a month filled with activities, not only in academics across clinical and community settings, but also in opportunities to socialize and foster camaraderie among future physicians in the Philippines, the USTP-COM held its General Assembly with its Dean, ๐๐ซ. ๐๐จ๐๐ง๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ ๐. ๐๐ง๐ญ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง, to warmly welcome students back to campus.
The assembly featured the sharing of experiences from the two-week electives at JR Borja General Hospital and the Department of Health Center for Health Development โ Northern Mindanao. Year Level II and III students also reflected on their week-long community immersion in Brgy. Poblacion and Brgy. Lanise, Claveria, Misamis Oriental, an experience that deepened their understanding of community-based healthcare and strengthened their commitment to serve.
The gathering also recognized the delegates who represented the college in the 15th APMC-SN Regional Convention, USTP Paugnat 2026, and the PHA-PCC Midyear Convention 2026, celebrating their dedication, leadership, and excellence beyond the classroom.
More than a simple welcome-back event, the General Assembly became a platform for reflection and growth. Event heads and representatives were invited to share not only their experiences and insights but also constructive suggestions essential for improving both the curriculum and future activities.
In many ways, the assembly served as a culmination of Januaryโs endeavors, a reminder that while medical training demands competence and rigor, it is equally shaped by collaboration, service, and shared purpose. As we move forward, we carry with us the lessons, memories, and renewed motivation to continue becoming doktors para sa bayan.

USTP-COM Medical Students had a once-in-a-lifetime exclusive opportunity to experience firsthand lectures, symposia, and plenaries delivered by distinguished personalities in the field of Philippine Cardiology.
โ
โThe convention allowed medical students to actively engage in meaningful networking with cardiologists, fellows, residents, and learn about the updated and latest cardiovascular guidelines locally and internationally, emerging research, and evolving clinical standards. It was also made more memorable through interactive booths and educational exhibits where students enjoyed exciting freebies while learning about innovations in cardiovascular care.

โThis experience reflects the Mission of USTP College of Medicine in offering ๐ข๐ง๐ง๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐, ๐๐ฏ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐๐-๐๐๐ฌ๐๐, and ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ-๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ medical education to its students. As Doktors para sa Bayan, the Regional Convention served as a platform to build meaningful connections, learn from one another, practice camaraderie, and embrace leadership.
Although unable to participate in the academic events, the Med-Trailblazers gained their first competition exposure through the non-academic events: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Chess, and MediSing. ๐
The experience was made even more memorable as the delegation proudly brought home ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ in the Chess Competition and ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ for the Sanduguan Award, celebrating not just achievements, but the unity and spirit that define true trailblazers. ๐ฉบ๐ฅ

Last January 19โ24, 2026, the Year Level 2 and Year Level 3 students of ๐๐๐๐ - ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐ข๐๐ข๐ง๐ stepped beyond the four walls of the classroom and into the heart of the municipality of ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ for their annual community immersion. Year Level 2 was assigned to Barangay Poblacion, while Year Level 3 immersed themselves in Barangay Lanise.
Conducted under the Family and Community Medicine subject, this yearly program allows each batch to adopt a partner barangay in Claveria, giving students invaluable hands-on experience in real-world community healthcare. More than just an academic requirement, the immersion fosters meaningful engagement with residents, local leaders, and health workers.
During their stay, students explored the social and health landscape of their respective communities, identified priority concerns, and anchored their research topics on the actual needs of the barangay. Through the ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ-๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ซ๐ (๐๐๐๐) approach, they worked closely with barangay officials and councils to analyze local health problems and propose practical, sustainable solutions.
This experience reflects USTP-COMโs commitment to forming future physicians who not only heal in hospitals, but who also serve, listen, and lead within communities, truly a !
