Established in 1945 following the liberation of Manila starting as a vocational high school, the 𝗘𝘂𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗼 "𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗴" 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘇 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧) is a distinguished public higher education institution located in Sampaloc, Manila, with a satellite campus in Cavite. 𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧 is a chartered state college committed to providing quality education in science, technology, engineering, business, arts, and allied disciplines. Named in honor of former Philippine Senator Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez, the institution has become a significant contributor to the country's human resource development through its strong emphasis on technical, professional, and research-oriented education.

Part of the Mixed Methods Webinar/Training-Workshop Series for 2026, the 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗜𝗻𝗰. successfully organized the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵n on 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟰-𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 via ZOOM Teleconferencing. The two-day webinar provided participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical insights on designing, conducting, and integrating quantitative and qualitative research using the explanatory sequential mixed methods approach.

Participants learned the historical development, philosophical foundations, and distinguishing characteristics of mixed methods research, including the integration of quantitative and qualitative data to generate richer and more meaningful insights.

Participants gained competence in selecting appropriate mixed methods designs, developing purpose statements and mixed methods research questions, constructing procedural diagrams, and applying best practices in scholarly mixed methods writing. They also strengthened their skills in designing qualitative follow-up phases, formulating central qualitative questions, conducting purposeful sampling, collecting and analyzing qualitative data through coding and thematic development, achieving data saturation, and integrating quantitative and qualitative findings through meta-inferences and joint displays.

Co-hosted by the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹, the webinar introduced participants to AI-Assisted Peer Reviewing using Generative AI as an aid to audit manuscripts as peer reviewers utilizing Editorial policies of the journal and standards of Scopus and Clarivate Analytics; two of the world’s leading journal indexing and research evaluation platforms. With the expert guidance of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗼 𝗩. 𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗼𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗜𝗻𝗰. as resource speaker and facilitator, the participants engaged in hands-on peer review activities using articles from the fleet of journals from the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹: the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 and the 𝗔𝗖𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗘 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹. An integration of numbers and narratives, Mixed Methods Research is an emergent research design that attempts to reconcile what statistics can measure and what transcripts can articulate; an integration of the quantitative with the qualitative. While the numbers anchor the stories in evidence, the narratives humanize the percentages. It is the marriage that occurs when the "what" of the statistics collides with the "why" of human experiences. Requiring a mind capable of holding two fundamentally different worldviews at the same time and forging meaning from their tension, how can a researcher design and publish a mixed methods research manuscript in high-impact journals that optimizes the Generative AI machine efficiency while also maintaining human-centered analytical scrutiny?

Rooted in a rich legacy that traces back to 1578 through the healing ministry of the Franciscan missionaries in Intramuros, Manila, Philippines, 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝘀 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗜𝗻𝗰. (𝗦𝗝𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗜) is one of the oldest and most historically distinguished Catholic educational and healthcare institutions in the Philippines. Its hospital component, formerly known as Hospital de San Juan de Dios, is regarded as the oldest hospital in the Philippines and among the oldest continuously existing Catholic hospitals in Asia.

𝗦𝗝𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗜 established one of the country’s pioneering nursing schools in 1913, which later became a foundation for its strong reputation in health sciences education. Over the years, 𝗦𝗝𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗜 expanded its academic offerings to include Nursing, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Hospitality Management, Entrepreneurship, Office Administration, and other allied health and professional programs. Managed by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, 𝗦𝗝𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗜’s research culture is shaped by its Vincentian philosophy of compassionate and transformative service. Research activities and extension programs are often community-centered, emphasizing healthcare accessibility, social responsiveness, and the improvement of human well-being, especially among underserved populations. Moreover, its hospital-college integration provides an important ecosystem for applied and clinical research.

A dynamic state higher education institution in Northwestern Mindanao that has steadily positioned itself as an emerging center for science, technology, innovation, and community-responsive research, the 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 was established in 1971 as the Tangub Agro-Industrial School (TANAIS). Participants were guided to systematically evaluate statistical assumptions such as normality, homogeneity of variance, linearity, and independence using diagnostic tests (e.g., Shapiro–Wilk, Levene’s Test), and make informed decisions in choosing between parametric and nonparametric techniques . Participants were able to differentiate and appropriately apply key statistical tests, including t-tests, one-way ANOVA, correlation (Pearson and Spearman), and regression models, while identifying suitable post hoc procedures and interpreting omnibus results with rigor . Furthermore, they developed the ability to address violations of statistical assumptions by employing robust alternatives such as nonparametric tests and quantile regression, ensuring validity and reliability of findings . Ultimately, participants was able to construct sound statistical decision pathways, interpret effect sizes, and report results in accordance with academic and publication standards, strengthening their roles as research teachers, advisers, and panelists in guiding high-quality empirical research.

The 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗘𝗱 𝗦𝗗𝗢 𝗡𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗮 𝗘𝗰𝗶𝗷𝗮 supervises public elementary and secondary schools and coordinates with private institutions to ensure compliance with national standards in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and governance.

The 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗘𝗱 𝗦𝗗𝗢 𝗡𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗮 𝗘𝗰𝗶𝗷𝗮 promotes a research-oriented culture through structured programs under its Schools Governance and Operations Division (SGOD), encouraging teachers and school leaders to develop and submit research proposals aligned with educational priorities. Regular memoranda and capacity-building activities focus on research, innovations, and income-generating projects, demonstrating institutional support for evidence-based decision-making and school improvement strategies.
Positioning itself as a dynamic hub for educational transformation in Central Luzon, Philippines, the Schools Division Office also promotes innovation-driven education through science fairs, technology integration, and participation in national and international academic engagements of its administrators, teachers, and students aligning research initiatives with instructional improvement and policy development.

Among its various designs, the Sequential Explanatory Mixed Methods Research stands out for its clarity of purpose and logical elegance. It begins, characteristically, with the quantitative phase followed by a qualitative follow-up. This design mirrors the logic of curiosity itself: we measure first, then we make meaning.
