EXTENSION OF THE VALIDITY OF PHILIPPINE-ISSUED STCW CERTIFICATES OF SEAFARERS ONBOARD SHIPS AFFECTED BY THE ESCALATING CRISIS IN THE BLACK SEA AND SEA OF AZOV

The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) informs the maritime industry of a 3-month validity extension for qualified MARINA-issued Certificates of Competency (COC) and Certificates of Proficiency (COP) of Filipino seafarers affected by the prevailing security situation in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov.

Who is covered?

Filipino seafarers who remain onboard or are unable to disembark from affected ships, including those stranded after disembarkation due to the prevailing security situation.

What is covered?

MARINA-issued COCs and COPs that have expired or will expire on 𝟯𝟭 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, while the seafarer remains onboard ships operating in or affected by the crisis.

Important: The extension applies only to qualified seafarers whose disembarkation has been prevented or delayed due to the prevailing security situation

For shipping companies, shipowners, and LMAs, the necessary documents and records, including Ports of Call, must be submitted to MARINA to substantiate the affected seafarer’s circumstances.

In the wake of the recent fire incident in Agora, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, the College of Maritime Education Student Body Organization (CMESBO) is launching a donation drive to provide immediate relief and assistance to the affected families.

In support of the Central Student Government's (CSG) university-wide donation drive, College of Maritime Education Student Body Organization (CMESBO) invites the entire CME community to take part in a departmental donation drive for the families affected by the recent fire in Agora, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.

As one community, let us extend our compassion and support by donating essential relief items that can help affected families recover during this difficult time.

📌 Section-Based Collection

To ensure an organized collection process, donations will be gathered per section. Each section is expected to submit a collective donation through their Class Captains. The Class Captains will facilitate and consolidate the donations from their respective classes before submission to the designated collection point.
