Before applying, please ensure you meet the following criteria:
1. Male or female, physically fit, natural born Filipino citizen;
2. Single and never been married and has no children out of wedlock;
3. Free from being accused or convicted of any crime against the law and the state;
4. At least 15 years old and not more than 20 years old upon enrollment for SY 2026–2027.
5. At least 160 centimeters (5 ft. & 3 in.) for males and 155 centimeters (5 ft. & 1 in.) for females;
6. BMI of less than 25;
7. At least of good academic performance;
8. Grade 10 completer who has not previously enrolled in Grade 11.

MANILA—The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy joined a commemorative event led by Seafaring Family International (SeaFam) at Rizal Park’s Independence Flagpole to mark the International Day of the Seafarer, an annual observance organized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), June 25.

Cadets of the PMMA Corps of Midshipmen took part in a march and salute to honor seafarers and recognize their role in keeping global trade moving. Tactical officers of the Department of Midshipman Affairs, Captain Jodel Xyrus Galinato and Engineer John Michael Lambino accompanied the PMMA delegation.

Moreover, representatives from the Department of Migrant Workers, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Maritime Industry Authority, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, the Philippine Marine Corps and other institutions participated in the commemoration.

In a Facebook post, PMMA said it “proudly joins the [IMO] in celebrating the 2025 Day of the Seafarer.”

“As the nation’s premier maritime institution, PMMA is committed to producing officers who not only excel at sea but also lead with kagitingan, kawastuhan, and kababaang-loob,” the Academy said.

“This year, we echo the global call for a where every seafarer, regardless of background, is treated with dignity. We stand with seafarers, not just in keeping trade moving, but in advancing equality and dignity at sea.”

The Day of the Seafarer is held every June 25 to recognize the work of seafarers around the world.

𝟖𝟐 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐌𝐌𝐀-𝐂𝐃𝐎 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦

Eighty-two examinees passed the 2025 entrance exam of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy-Cagayan de Oro (PMMA-CDO) Campus, officials announced following the test held on May 10.

Out of 279 online applicants, 164 appeared in person for the examination. Nearly half of the passers (45%) came from high schools in Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City. Bukidnon followed with 23 successful examinees, accounting for 28% of the total.

Other passers hailed from various provinces across Mindanao and the Visayas, including Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Davao del Sur, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Surigao del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Negros Occidental.

PMMA-CDO officials said the wide geographic spread reflects the Academy’s commitment to providing opportunities for aspiring seafarers from across the country.

Meanwhile, applicants who passed the examination are advised to regularly monitor the official PMMA-CDO group chat for important updates on the next stages of the admissions process.

Samantala, ilan sa mga pamunuan at iba pang mga kadete ay nakilahok sa pagbubunyi ng ating Kalayaan na may temang, “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” na pinangunahan ng National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).

Sa kanyang mensahe, ipinaalala ni 𝑃𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑢𝑙𝑜𝑛𝑔 𝐹𝑒𝑟𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑛𝑑 “𝐵𝑜𝑛𝑔𝑏𝑜𝑛𝑔” 𝑀𝑎𝑟𝑐𝑜𝑠 𝐽𝑟., na magbigay pugay sa lahat ng nag-alay ng kanilang buhay at lumaban para sa ating kalayaan at kasarinlan.

Samantala, binigkas nya na kaugnay ng pagpapahalagang nabanggit ay ang pangakong ipagpapatuloy ang kanilang nasimulan at ang buong loob na paninindigan para sa ating karapatan bilang isang bansang malaya.

Sa pagtatapos ng kanyang pananalita, hinikayat ng Pangulo ang mga Pilipino na magsama-sama sa paglalakbay tungo sa isang mas maliwanag at masaganang bukas at patuloy na lumaban sa Kalayaan – Kalayaan sa kahirapan, kagutuman, kawalan ng katarungan at iba pang mga balakid sa ating pag-unlad.

Tampok din sa naturang selebrasyon ang pagparada ng mga float na hango sa mga pangyayari na kaugnay ng ating kalayaan at mga float ng iba’t ibang ahensya ng gobyerno.

Nagtapos ang selebrasyon sa fireworks display at Musikalayaan.

The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) Cagayan de Oro (CDO) Campus, under the leadership of Superintendent Commodore Joel Y Abutal as supported by OIC Captain Nathan R. Luga, is thrilled to congratulate the aspiring applicants who successfully passed the PMMA-CDO Campus Entrance Examination held last April 27, 2024 for incoming Grade 11 students.

Of a total of 225 individuals initially applied online, only 142 (63.1%) participated in the exam in actual. Among those who took the exam, Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City High Schools had a strong showing, with 98 applicants (69.01%). These schools also boasted an impressive passing rate of 67.6%, with 50 of the 74 passers coming from Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro High Schools.
