USTP - M4R is a collaborative project of the Civil and Geodetic Engineering Department of USTP-CDO aiming at making the Metro Cagayan "open" and "spatial".

Barangay Canitoan of Cagayan de Oro is the project site of the COLLABDev project for the local coalition composed of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, Balay Mindanaw, and the City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD) of the Local Government Unit of Cagayan de Oro City.

A coordination meeting was held Last September 6, 2022, at the Canitoan Barangay Hall Session Room, and it was attended by the local coalition, with USTP represented by Dr. Maria Teresa M. Fajardo (USTP-ECRD Director), Engr. Mark Plaza (Faculty, Geodetic Eng'g Department), Engr. Wilfred Clark J. Sevilla (USTP-ECRD IT and Multimedia), together with Mr. Kent Ryan C. Silao as CHUDD Representative, and Ms. Tat Gualberto, the AER, Program Associate for Mindanao.

The Coordination Meeting was also attended by Hon. Marley Y. Lagumen (Brgy. Kagawad), Hon. Cruz L. Lustre (Brgy. Kagawad), Hon. Nador Jun Asilo Datahan (Brgy. SK Chairperson), Mr. Jestone D. Macahilos (PYAP President), the Zone Leaders, and the Representatives from Barangay Health Worker.

The Coordination meeting aims to introduce the possible projects that the local coalition is planning to implement in Barangay Canitoan. Dr. Maria Teresa Fajardo introduces the Digital Skills Training for OSYs, Skills Mapping for 18 - 60 years old, and the KOBO Skills Training for the 40 Youths where the 15 data enumerators as the skills mapper to be chosen. Engr. Mark Plaza presented their ongoing project "MAPASAKUNA" an Open Street Mapping project. Ms. Tat Gualberto introduced Action for Economic Reform and discusses the COLLABDeV project. Mr. Silao provided CHUDD initiatives updates and answered some homeowner association presidents' concerns.

The agreement reached in this meeting includes the conduct of KOBO training, digital skills training for OSY, and the skills mapping of the community on top of the mapping for resilience project. The coalition hopes to pursue more programs, activities, and projects for the community especially those that address the needs of the urban poor.

Now, our volunteer field mappers are ready to go on board with the actual field mapping at Barangay Canitoan on September 5, 2022.

In preparation for the Field Mapping proper on September 5-6, 2022, the M4R Team will be conducting a workshop on Field Data Collection using KoboCollect on September 2, 2022 at the Cafeteria Function Hall, USTP-CDO.

This is in preparation for the upcoming Field Mapping under the M4R Project.

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines as an active partner HEI of the barangay Canitoan had a coordination meeting together with the officials from the barangay, namely; Hon. Marley Lagumen (Brgy. Kagawad), Hon. Cruz Lustre (Brgy. Kagawad), and Hon. Mary Ann Jacob (SK Kagawad). It was held last August 30, 2022, at exactly 9 AM in the Barangay Session Room. This Collaboration Meeting aims to discuss the proposed projects which are the Digital Skills Training for OSYs (funded by USAID EDC) and the Open Street Mapping as one of the COLLABDev projects. Representing USTP is Dr. Maria Teresa M. Fajardo (ECRD Director), Engr. Mark Dave B. Plaza (Faculty, Geodetic Engineering Department), and Engr. Wilfred Clark J. Sevilla (ECRD IT and Multimedia Staff).

Our Field Volunteers came from the two engineering programs under the 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 of 𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗣-𝗖𝗗𝗢 namely, the 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙡 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 and 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙂𝙚𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜. Currently, we have 29 BSCE Volunteers and 6 BSGE Volunteers.

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀!

They will be working with the M4R Team for the next couple of months. They will undergo 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 on 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 before they will be deployed to the field. We would like to extend our gratitude to them for lending their hands in undertaking this project.

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝟰𝗥 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺!

This will be the working team for our first target barangay which is 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 𝘾𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙖𝙣, 𝘾𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙚 𝙊𝙧𝙤 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮. The project will run from 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 𝘁𝗼 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮. This project will focus on producing high quality geospatial data thru field data collection and remote mapping.
