๐๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐๐ฒ! ๐ฟ๐พ Today, we celebrate the incredible diversity of life on Earth and remind ourselves of our responsibility to protect it.
Every species plays a vital role in keeping our planet healthy by providing resources, maintaining ecological stability, and contributing to clean air, water, and food systems. However, many of these species are increasingly threatened by habitat destruction, pollution, climate change, and other human activities.
This day encourages us to recognize our shared responsibility to protect biodiversity and continue to promote awareness, support conservation efforts, and take meaningful actions in our own communities. Because when we protect wildlife, we protect life itself. ๐๐ฑ

Every 2nd of February, we celebrate World Wetlands Day! ๐๐
Wetlands sustain biodiversity, protect communities from floods, and serve as natureโs water filters. Let's recognize their value and renew our commitment to protect and conserve these vital ecosystems.

If youโre a Regency enthusiast, youโve probably heard how members of high society often suffered from lead poisoning due to the cosmetics they used during that era. While many think of it as a problem of the past, lead poisoning sadly remains a concern today. Although its use has greatly declined because of known health risks, lead is still found in certain materials such as radiation shielding, plumbing, and some imported productsโincluding canned goods, toys, and cosmetics.

is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of lead exposure, particularly for children, and encouraging efforts to eliminate its major sources. While completely removing lead from modern life may not yet be possible, promoting awareness, ensuring proper product screening, and knowing the warning signs are essential steps in reducing its harmful impact.

The United Nationsโ most recent Global E-Waste Monitor report estimates that ๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ฑ๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ will exceed ๐ณ๐ฐ ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐ฏ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฌ.Higher consumption of electrical and electronic equipment, as well as short life cycles and limited repair options, will drive the increase.
According to the report, the The country is estimated to have generated 3.9 kg of e-waste per capita in 2019. This is not only a major health hazard for local people. Pollution from e-waste can also damage the environment and the climate. But e-waste is not all bad news. If collected, stored and handled correctly, it can be a lucrative source of precious metals.
On a recent visit to the Philippines, Gerd Mรผller, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), visited a treatment, storage and disposal (TSD) facility for e-waste set up by UNIDO and the Philippinesโ Department of the Environment and Natural Resources. The TSD facility is located in Barangay Bagong Silang in Caloocan City in metropolitan Manila. By being responsible with our e-waste, we protect not only our environment but also the future generations who will inherit it. Together, we can make technology work for the planet, not against it.
Letโs power a cleaner and greener tomorrowโone device at a time! ๐ฟ๐

September 27, 2025 - The second installment of LegaTrees - a tree planting activity spearheaded by the Environmental Science Society - has concluded its first phase. The event in collaboration with The City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) organized for 75 mangrove trees to be planted at the coastal area of Barangay Bonbon, Cagayan de Oro City.
The ESS Officers, together with staff and fellow environmental science students, kicked off the activity with a coastal clean-up, an endeavor to lessen the amount of debris in the vicinity. Mr. Jerome G. Saldia, a representative from CLENRO provided the seedlings for planting. He imparted encouraging words, reminding students that, โGamay man, pero nakapaayo ta sa atong kinaiyahanโ.
The activity ended with cheers and bright smiles from the students, proud to have made a difference, however small. Their faces reflected both pride and joy as they strengthened bonds with one another, made a step towards greening lands, and built connections with the residents as well as individuals who shared in their environmental advocacy, โTungo sa maunlad na Kalikasan at Kapaligiranโ.

The World Environmental Health Day challenges us to foster the delicate relationship between nature and life itself. Thoughtful efforts, whether it is big or smallโhelp us to cultivate clean air, clean water, and secure environments for all living creatures. Not merely looking after the earth is an investmentโit is a guarantee of a brighter future.
The change will start when a single hand raises to it, a single step to consciousness, and a single society favoring the bravery to act over complacency. Today, be that change. Protect the environment, value our health and motivate others to stand with you.
