On the 7th of August, the Executives of Vox Veritasโ€”the Liceo de Cagayan Senior High School official debate club merged at the Liceo Civic Center to participate in the Inductions of Officers together with the other clubs and organizations.

The executives of Vox Veritas raised their right hands with the intention to lead, binding their voices to the oath-taking rite, and were officially sworn to their respective responsibilitiesโ€”to deliver and to serve.

As the ceremony of induction concluded, They carried with them the determination to conduct themselves with discipline and integrity, fulfill their responsibilities with commitment, and lead in service of the people.

When curiosity meets clarity, even the most complex ideas begin to take shape. On July 24, 2026, Vox Veritas held its much-anticipated training session via Google Meet, led by Mr. Kirk Ian Siao โ€” a proud alumnus of the debate circle and now an active member of the XU Debate Circle.

The session began with an open inquiry: โ€œWhat is debate?โ€ From there, Mr. Siao delved into Debate 101, unpacking the fundamentals with precision and passion. His lecture not only sharpened the understanding of argumentation but also a reminder that debate is more than winning โ€” it is about thinking critically, speaking courageously, and listening deeply.

Following the lecture, the newly accepted members took the floor for their first debate training under the British Parliamentary format, addressing the motion: โ€œTHBT mainstream Filipino media portrayal of q***r people has done more harm than good towards LGBTQIA+ acceptance.โ€ With references to well-known public figures, real-life narratives, and even LGBTQ-themed Filipino films, both sides delivered compelling points that reflected not just skill, but social consciousness.

Overseeing the debate and providing critical evaluations were the adjudicators for the day, Mr. Kirk Ian Siao and Mr. Denzeluke Z. Bartolome. Their insightful feedback helped bridge learning and practice, giving the participants a clearer understanding of what it means to argue with integrity and represent voices that matter.

Fourteen aspiring debaters stepped forward and proved that their voices carried more than confidenceโ€”they carried conviction. Throughout the screening process on July 10, 2026 at NAC 203, their beliefs were challenged, their critical thinking put to the test, and their ability to reason, persuade, and communicate under pressure was measured.

Each argument delivered, every rebuttal presented, and every perspective defended reflected the qualities of a true debater: the courage to speak, the discipline to listen, and the willingness to seek truth through reason.

Having successfully met the challenge, these fourteen individuals are now recognized as members and are part of the circle. As they begin their journey, may they continue to sharpen their minds, strengthen their voices, and uphold the values of respectful discourse, intellectual curiosity, and integrity.

When two voices start to be woven in one, it entices the crooked to become unbent. Vox Veritas, the official debate circle of Liceo de Cagayan University, led by Ma'am Eden Balquedra held its first screening of the year on July 10, 2026 at NAC 302 and 303. Not only does it showcase the deliberation of every applicant in each topic given, but it also shows how socially aware the young generation is.

Evaluations are also incomplete without the verdicts of the panelists. Together with the Vox Veritasโ€™ moderator Ms. Eden Balquedra are four more debate enthusiasts; Ms. Mariel Cajetas, Mr. Ryan Membreve, Mr. Bruno Louise Cabanla and Ms. Bebie Lou Penarada. Behind the error-free flow of the conducted screening are the Vox Veritas Seniors who have taken time to neatly organize everything to their full extent.

Within five hours of exchanging rebuttals by rebuttals throughout the table topics format, the subject of the debates did not merely revolve around one topic; it goes beyond bringing societal issues upfront, it digs more deeper to the actuality of political lapses, ethical standards, and the faculty of wonder: philosophy.

Post-screening, there's one more thrill that measured the full consciousness of the Vox Veritas seniors. As part of the concluding sequence of 5-hour screening, the club once again exhibited their members logical excellence through Asian Parliamentary Debate adjudicated by the alumni of the club; Mr. Kirk Ian Siao, Ms. Je Eduria, and Mr. Toby Espera.

The day ended with both seniors and juniors being able to scout informative understanding about different forms of debates inside the club leaving all the applicants more elated for when the results will be announced.

As the hallways slowly fell silent, the crowd dispersed with each hour that passed. On June 23-24, 2026, as the Jumpstart and the club fair kicked off, the Liceo U Vox Veritas' Debate Circle of the Senior High School Department held an Open Mic Debate in EAC 302. An activity to practice impromptu speaking, receive peer feedback, and connect with other students interested in debate and public speaking that helped attendees identify strengths and areas to improve.

Within the confines of this Hollywood-themed room, The event gave participants hailing from the Grade 11 STEM, ASSH, BE, and Tech-Pro clusters, alongside Grade 12 students from various strands, for spirited and heated discourse.

After two days of back-and-forth debate-from the most mundane topics to the most controversial issues-we shared hot takes, broadened our perspectives, and challenged our beliefs. We conversed, we listened, and most importantly, we learned. Our curiosity, satiated.

Nevertheless, debate isn't about winning, nor is it about always having the last laugh. At its core, debate is an exchange of ideas where arguments are built, challenged, and refined. It teaches us to look beyond one side of the coin and consider perspectives that diverge from our own. Through debate, our critical thinking gets challenged. We are forced to think outside the box. It serves as a safe haven where we may convene our thoughts, let our rational thinking do the work, and test our ideas. Every word that came out, every opinion shared-opened a door of rebuttals that challenged our beliefs and broadened our horizons. Such is the spirit of debate.

The Vox Veritas Debate Circle greatly appreciates your presence, for it is one of the main reasons this event was made possible. Without you, there would be no contest of minds, no exchange of ideas, and no broadening of perspectives. We would be left in a world dimmed, with a horizon far bleaker than before.

This, however, does not mark the end of the spirit of debate. It moves forward-

The Career Guidance and Enrollment Program for Grade 10 Students unleashed last Saturday on January 24, 2026 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM held at the Liceo Civic Center.

The annual event was designed to acknowledge the Grade 10 graduating students from various schools to prepare for their closer journey to Senior High Schoolโ€”guiding studentsโ€™ path in terms of understanding their interests, strengths, and future goals, helping them make smart and confident decisions in terms of their academic path, as well as discussing the Pilot Implementation of the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum for upcoming Grade 11 students.

Through an engaging club booth activities, including the Senior High School Debate Circle of LDCU the Vox Veritas together with other school clubs, allowed learners to learn more about various interests, skills, and opportunities available within the school community. Grade 10 students are able to explore varieties of senior high school tracks and possible career options that match their skills and passions.

It gave a certain view of their choices and interests, making it easier for them to plan for what comes next in their journey. ๐Ÿ“š

Alongside their career exploration, the enrollment registration aspect supported students in choosing the most suitable academic track for them. By combining career guidance, club booth activities, and enrollment registration, this overall event helped Grade 10 learners choose the right path for their goals and take a confident step toward their fuiture. ๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ
