We are thrilled to celebrate our founder, Mary Anne Ortiz, on becoming an ITOL Certified Trauma-Sensitive Voice Professional, completing her accreditation with a grade of Distinction through the Voice Study Centre.
In her accompanying paper, “The Voice Is Never Just a Voice: Why Treating the Voice as Purely Acoustic Is No Longer Enough,” Mayo addresses a critical gap in traditional voice work. She writes on the foundational responsibility of practitioners to look beneath the acoustic surface. Grounded in neuroscience, music, psychology, and her 14 years of practical experience in shelters for survivors of human trafficking and online exploitation, Mayo demonstrates how trauma alters breathing patterns, laryngeal tension, and vocal freedom.
At Mayo Creatives, we believe in cultivating minds and nurturing lives. By integrating this high-level trauma research—delivered by the world-renowned Dr. Elisa Monti—into our agency’s mission, we are reshaping how creative and professional spaces communicate.
When we commit to working with the voice, we also commit to protecting the full human being behind it. Because when we say we help you reclaim your story, we mean it with the full weight of science and soul.
Congratulations, Mayo !

Before the Stage: A Private Intensive Workshop on Vocal Confidence
At Mayo Creatives, we create our spaces with a lot of intention and care.
We build spaces that can hold the kinds of voices a “normal” environment tends to shut off, shrink, ignore, or dismiss. We care for voices that shake, that soften, that get tense, and that overperform. Instead of trying to fix them right away, we meet them where they are.
Led by Mayo Ortiz, our head teacher who specializes in somatic voice coaching and body-mind-based confidence building, we identify challenges, blocks, and gaps in real-time. By providing practical tools you can use in an instant, we help you develop self-trust and confidence—muscles we are deeply committed to helping you activate, build, and develop.
This is the work we do at Mayo Creatives.
We listen.
We observe.
We work with the body, with awareness, and with real, lived experience.
So each person can begin to understand their voice, trust it, and slowly learn how to hold it—even in the moments that feel uncomfortable or uncertain.
Thank you to everyone who stepped into the space with openness and willingness. Such brave, creative souls! 🤍

Fourteen years in the making. The first of many spaces where these voices will finally be heard.
At Mayo Creatives, our work has always been rooted in a deep, quiet commitment. For over 14 years, our founder, Mayo Ortiz, has dedicated her time to children’s shelters—holding space for youth navigating the aftermath of trafficking, abuse and exploitation. She showed up during the most fragile seasons of their lives, when expressing their truth felt like the most dangerous thing they could do.
Through this intentional work, a framework was born. It is a framework built on lived experience, an ever-evolving passion for learning, and a vision of a world where every human is free to express who they truly are.
We are honored to have been given a formal global stage to share this independent work. This is just the beginning of our mission to bring awareness to the voice as a mirror of our inner truth. We believe this isn't just work for survivors of extreme trauma—it is a human imperative. To live fully in truth, aligned with love, is a right that belongs to everyone.
Gratitude to the Voice and Trauma Research and Connection Group, Inc. .and.trauma, led by Dr. Elisa Monti, for giving these stories a global stage along with Megan Durham of , for your nurturing presence, and Dr. Rachel Cohen, for being my soulful partner in this space. To the entire Voice and Trauma community: thank you for seeing, hearing, and holding us. Together, we are reclaiming the story.

Your voice is your most authentic signature.
As creatives, we know that the strongest messages come from a place of health and clarity. On this World Voice Day, we’re honoring both the literal and metaphorical voices that shape our culture.
“Caring for Our Voices” is about preserving the instrument that carries our ideas, our stories, and our identity. Take care of your instrument today—the world needs to hear what you have to say.
Happy World Voice Day 2026 from the Mayo Creatives team!

“It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera... they are made with the eye, heart, and head.”
— Henri Cartier-Bresson.
For Urich Calumpang, photography isn’t just about the click—it’s about the pause. It’s about being present enough to see the “extraordinary in the common,” even in the midst of the hazy, everyday chaos.
Hailing from the creative hub of Dumaguete, Urich is an educator and storyteller who has spent over a decade finding the “soul in the structure.” His work—featured in Newsweek Asia, CNN Philippines, and the Philippine Daily Inquirer—is a masterclass in seeing the extraordinary in the mundane. This summer, we are gathering in Opera Haus as Urich brings the Southern perspective for an open exchange with the metro’s photography community.
We’re inviting photographers from across the metro to share their stories, discuss the honest realities of the creative path, and learn about one another’s work. In a world drowning in images, let’s explore together how a voice finally transcends.
Join Urich and a community of like-minded creatives as we shift the focus from gear to intention.
