It all begins here.👇
Awareness.
🌹This is the ability for a child to hear, identify, and manipulate the individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken words.
🌹It’s all about listening and speaking, not necessarily reading or writing.
For example, when a learner can:
°Hear that cat has three sounds: /k/ /a/ /t/
°Tell that bat and cat differ by one sound,
°Blend sounds like /s/ /u/ /n/ to say sun,
°Remove a sound from smile to get mile,
That learner is using awareness.
2 Reasons why Phonemic awareness is important.
°It’s the foundation of reading and spelling.
°Before children can connect sounds to letters ( ), they must first recognize and work with sounds in words.
If a learner struggles to read, the real issue often starts before , It starts at the sound level.
How then do you teach phonemic awareness effectively without using letters at all and why does that matter so much?

"Walter and the Wonderful Wiggly Worm"
By: Smart Angel
Walter wears a watch on his wrist and keeps a wallet in his pocket.
One windy morning, Walter walked to the window.
He watched a worm wiggling its way out of a juicy watermelon beside the old well.
“What a wonderful worm!” Walter whispered.
He wanted a closer look.
So, he wore his warm wool vest and went out the wooden door.
Outside, the wind whooshed past the windmill.
Walter pulled his red wagon to gather things he found interesting.
He gently placed the worm and the watermelon in the wagon.
Then he wheeled it to the small store beside the windmill.
“We’ll watch it grow into a beautiful worm house,” said Walter with a wide smile.

Vina the Vulture's Violin Visit
Vina the vulture was very excited.
She wore her violet veil and velvet vest.
"Today, I’ll play my violin at Venice Hall!" she cheered.
Her violin was resting beside a vase full of velvet violets.
She picked it up carefully and placed it in her velvet case.
Vina called a van to take her to the venue.
The van vroomed down the valley road.
It passed by a volcano—tall and quiet.
Then, they saw a vast yard filled with vegetables:
Vineyards of vines, rows of veggies like valiant vines climbing high!
Vina smiled, "Vegetables make us very strong!"
At last, they arrived at Venice Hall.
Vina walked on stage, held her violin, and played a very lovely tune.
Everyone clapped with joy!
