They pressed wedge‑shaped marks into wet clay tablets—cuneiform—and that’s exactly the system we’re using today. This is the original! ✨🔍 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗖𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗶𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗹

The Sumerians used 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 to write all numbers—so simple, yet so powerful!

𒐕 - Vertical Wedge = 1 (units / seconds)
𒌋 - Angle / Ten Wedge = 10 (tens of minutes)

𝐖𝐡𝐨’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧?

The one and only father of modern problem solving. Tama ka! He is 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐚, the intelligent mathematician who believe that a mathematician should always be experimenting, trying new possibilities and different approach.

He was born in 1887 in Budapest, Hungary. Polya’s early age of being a mathematician is not quite easy as he shows no interest in it. He goes to the University of Budapest to follow the dream of his father in the field of law although he found it boring and uninteresting. His professor introduced mathematics and with the help of his professor, he started to like mathematics and it became his profession.

Even having the hard time on being interested in mathematics, Polya gives an ineffable effort to publish a book “𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐭?” about solving any complicated mathematical problem. Other than that, he also has a theory about “𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐲𝐚’𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐲”, which is applicable in chemistry and graph theory. He also studied “𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤” that resulted in an importance in probabilities.

He made a big impact on today’s generation, not just through his contribution but also with his personal experiences. From having no interest in mathematics to starting to have a deep passion and love for it. His story shows that mathematics is not all about formula but also about 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲, and 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞.
