NES, Namruangan Council strengthen partnership for safer school community
Demonstrating a shared commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and peaceful learning environment, Namruangan Elementary School (NES) and the Barangay Namruangan Council officially entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in support of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2025-072 on the Safer Schools/Safer Communities Program, July 23.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Nathaniel S. Santella, School Head of Namruangan Elementary School, and Punong Barangay Dominador S. Agno, representing the Barangay Namruangan Council. Witnessing the signing were Mrs. Haydee T. Duque, School Child Protection and Discipline Coordinator, Mr. Oscar Rabang Sr., Barangay Committee Chairman on Peace and Order and Mr. Frank Allen G. Reintar, School PTA President.
The agreement formalizes the partnership between the school and the barangay to strengthen campus safety through the deployment of Barangay Tanods who will assist in maintaining peace and order, managing traffic during school hours, monitoring school premises, supporting daily school operations, and helping conduct inspections to prevent prohibited and hazardous materials from entering the school campus.
The initiative is anchored on Section 391(a)(16) of Republic Act No. 7160 (Local Government Code of 1991) and the provisions of DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2025-072, which encourage barangays to actively support public schools in promoting a safe and secure educational environment.
βA safe school is the foundation of meaningful learning. This agreement reflects our shared commitment to protect every learner, teacher, and member of our school community,β Mr. Santella emphasized that safeguarding is a shared responsibility among stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Punong Barangay Dominador S. Agno reaffirmed the barangayβs commitment to supporting the welfare of the school and its learners and to continue working together to ensure that every learner can study in an environment that is peaceful, secure, and conducive to learning.
The signing of the agreement marks another significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between the Department of Education and the local government, reinforcing the principle that building a safer school community requires the collective efforts of educators, parents, local officials, and community members.
Moreover, with this partnership, it affirms its commitment to providing a learning environment where every child feels protected, valued, and empowered to achieve academic success under the banner of a Safer School, Safer Community.
