This recognition is a testament to his unwavering commitment to discipline, leadership, and service both inside and outside the school community.
The National Discipline Award was established in 1990 as a response to Ambassador Alfonso T. Yuchengcoโs vision of instilling national discipline in the Filipino youth. What makes this award unique is that it does not measure intelligence by grades or academic achievements, but rather by the strength of oneโs character. Although it is not a scholarship, the award provides a Php 7,500 cash grant alongside the San Lorenzo Ruiz Gold Medal, encouraging awardees to continue their educational journey in college.
This foundation is connected to several key institutions in the country, including Mapรบa University, one of the countryโs leading engineering and technological schools, and RCBC Bank, one of the major players in the Philippine banking industry. Through programs like the National Discipline Award, the foundation upholds its belief that the youth, when guided by strong values and discipline, are truly the hope of the fatherland.
