DAY TWO | WHEN A COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER IN REMEMBRANCE 🕊️🤍

On September 18, 2026, the Quirino State University community gathered at the Provincial Gymnasium, Capitol Hills, Cabarroguis, Quirino, to join the second day of the public viewing of the wake of the late Governor Dakila Carlo “Dax” E. Cua.

Students, student leaders, instructors, and university officials came together, with the PEMDAS Organization and BS Mathematics Student Council among those who stood alongside fellow Quirinians to offer their final respects.

Different faces, different stories, and different walks of life gathered in one place, united by the loss of someone who had become more than a name in public office.

Today, the QSU community stood with Quirino not simply to mourn a governor, but to remember a person whose life and service touched the province in ways that will continue beyond his time.

Some goodbyes are difficult because the person being remembered meant something to many. And perhaps this is why so many came: to say thank you, to honor his memory, and to let his family know that his life was seen, valued, and remembered.

Rest peacefully, Governor Dax.
Your journey may have come to an end, but the memories you leave behind will continue to live in the hearts of the people of Quirino.🤍

A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE, LEADERSHIP, AND SERVICE ✨

The PEMDAS Organization proudly celebrates three remarkable BS Mathematics graduates who were recognized during the 55th Araw ng Quirino on September 10, 2026.

Their awards represent years of hard work, leadership, service, and dedication that extended far beyond the classroom.

MARY JANE L. CAIREL - SUMMA CUM LAUDE | FIRST SUMMA CUM LAUDE IN QSU

A distinguished former leader of the BS Mathematics Student Council, Mary Jane L. Cairel made history as the first Summa Cum Laude in the history of Quirino State University.

Her historic academic achievement stands alongside years of dedicated leadership and service. She served the Student Council as Business Manager, Vice Governor, and Governor, and later as Student Government Auditor (A.Y. 2025–2026).

Her leadership extended to PCSMT, where she served as Auditor, Vice President, President, and Vice President across different academic years. She was also part of the Drum and Lyre Corps as a Lyrist from 2022 to 2026.

In student publication, she served as Staff Writer, News Editor, and News Writer. She is also a Civil Service Examination Professional Level Passer (August 2024) and was part of the Didipio Mine Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) from 2023–2026.

Her historic Summa Cum Laude distinction is a milestone not only for herself, but also for the BS Mathematics community and the entire Quirino State University.

CARLS JAENLEY R. SIAO - MAGNA CUM LAUDE

A former PEMDAS President (A.Y. 2024–2025), Carls Jaenley R. Siao has been a consistent presence in student organizations and campus life. Her journey in PEMDAS began as 1st Year Representative (2022–2023), followed by Treasurer (2023–2024) and eventually President (2024–2025), during which PEMDAS was recognized as a Most Outstanding Organization Awardee.

Her service also extended to the Drum and Lyre Corps, where he served as Lyrist from 2022 to 2026, and to the Student Council as 1st Year Representative and Senator. She contributed to student journalism as a Photojournalist and Staff Writer for The Gazette and The Phenom, and served as Secretary of the Quirinian Students’ Organization (A.Y. 2025–2026).

Beyond student leadership, she is a Civil Service Examination Professional Level Passer (August 2024) and a DOST JLSS Examination Passer (2024–2026).

Her recognition as Magna Cum Laude reflects a college journey marked by academic excellence, leadership, and service.

DIANA ROSE M. FRANCO - DAKILANG PAMANA AWARDEE

A former PEMDAS Board Secretary (A.Y. 2022–2023), Diana Rose M. Franco is a leader whose college journey was defined by service and involvement.

She served the Drum and Lyre Corps as a Flag member from 2022 to 2026 and held various leadership positions in the Student Council, including Vice Governor, Governor, 3rd Year Mayor, and 4th Year Mayor. She also served as Student Government P.I.O.

Her dedication to student organizations continued through the Quirinian Students’ Organization, where she served as BS Mathematics Representative and later Vice President, as well as through Gender and Development and PCSMT.

Her passion for journalism was equally remarkable. She served as Editor-in-Chief of The Gazette for A.Y. 2022–2024and later as Staff Writer for The Gazette and The Phenom.

Her Dakilang Pamana Award honors the legacy of leadership and service she leaves behind.

THREE GRADUATES. THREE DISTINCT JOURNEYS. ONE SHARED LEGACY.

From leading student organizations and councils, contributing to campus publications, serving the Drum and Lyre Corps, and giving their time to various communities, their college years were filled with achievements that will remain part of the BS Mathematics story.

As they begin a new chapter beyond QSU, PEMDAS proudly celebrates the excellence, leadership, and service they have shared with the community.

‎Gone.
‎Quiet.
‎Home.
‎
‎Quirino woke to a sorrow it could hardly put into words. Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua, known to many as Dax, had passed away, leaving behind a province that had known his leadership, service, and presence for many years.
‎
‎The news felt heavy. The halls he once walked seemed quieter. The people he served were left with memories where his presence once stood.
‎
‎Then came the rain.
‎
‎And after it, a rainbow stretched across the sky.
‎
‎Perhaps it was only nature—a meeting of sunlight and rain. But to those grieving, it felt like something more. It was as if God had opened the gates of heaven and painted a path home for a son of Quirino.
‎
‎After years of serving his province, perhaps he had finally come home.
‎
‎The rainbow faded.
‎
‎The grief remained.
‎
‎But so did his legacy.
‎
‎Farewell, Governor Dax. May the province you served forever remember the light you left behind.

BS Mathematics students took part in today’s University Wide clean-up drive, working together to keep our surroundings clean and comfortable for everyone. It was a simple way of showing that keeping our campus clean is a shared responsibility.

Last September 8, 2026, the BS Mathematics Department held its General Orientation and Awarding Ceremony. One of the highlights of the event was the Oath-Taking Ceremony of the newly elected PEMDAS Officers for A.Y. 2026–2027.

This marks the beginning of a new journey for our officers as they take on their responsibilities and serve the BS Mathematics students.

BRAINS, BUZZERS, AND ASEAN!🧠

What a way to celebrate ASEAN Day!

The PEMDAS Officers successfully conducted the ASEAN Quiz Bee among BSMath students of Quirino State University–Cabarroguis Campus on September 3, 2026!

The event was a thrilling battle of knowledge, speed, teamwork, and confidence, filled with challenging questions, quick thinking, friendly competition, and, of course, some intense buzzer moments!

More than just a competition, the quiz bee provided an opportunity for our BSMath students to learn, challenge themselves, work as a team, and celebrate the spirit of ASEAN.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to all our participants for taking on the challenge and showcasing your knowledge, teamwork, and sportsmanship! 👏✨
