The Philippine Book Festival is back — and it’s bigger, bolder, and more immersive than ever.
Now in its fourth year, PBF 2026 brings together the biggest names in Philippine publishing under one roof, creating a dynamic space where readers, writers, educators, creators, and industry leaders converge. This year, four distinct realms await fairgoers.
Aral Aklat showcases textbooks, academic titles, and essential learning resources for students and educators. Booktopia gathers an expansive collection of fiction and nonfiction titles across genres. Kid Lit offers an interactive world designed especially for young readers, complete with engaging activities and children’s books. Komiks celebrates the vibrant universe of graphic novels and Filipino comics.

2025 Pambansang Buwan ng Pagbasa, National Library Information Services Month Celebration, and National Values Month Celebration cm Launching of Project LETRA
November 20, 2025 - Robinson's Place, Tuguegarao City

The celebration of reading, information, and Filipino values reached its peak at the Regional Culminating Activity for the 2025 Pambansang Buwan ng Pagbasa. This event effectively unified the National Reading Month, LIS Month, NBW, and National Values Month, featuring the official Launching of Project LETRA.

Educators, librarians, division and regional officials, learners, storytellers, and literacy advocates came together to honor achievements in literacy and explore innovative learning initiatives showcased through the dynamic ARAL Exhibits.

SDO Quirino garnered the following awards:

📚✨ A COLORFUL CELEBRATION OF READING! | LIKHARAYA 2025 ✨📚

The spirit of storytelling and the joy of reading came alive during the successful conduct of LIKHARAYA 2025, proudly hosted by Cabarroguis National School of Arts and Trades (CNSAT) last November 19, 2025!

One of the most heartwarming highlights of the event was the vibrant Parade of Pinoy Book Characters, where learners showcased their beautifully crafted and creative costumes inspired by beloved Filipino stories and literature. From classic tales to contemporary children’s books, our young readers brought characters to life with pride, imagination, and a true love for reading. 🇵🇭❤️

LIKHARAYA 2025 once again proved to be more than just a competition—it was a celebration of advocacy, creativity, literacy, and the timeless power of books. Through storytelling, performances, and community participation, our learners reaffirmed their passion for learning and the importance of nurturing a reading culture.

NBDB conducts site monitoring at SDO Quirino Book Nook; Activity Features Open Mic Storytelling

The National Book Development Board (NBDB) Book Nook READ Core Team conducted a site monitoring activity at the Schools Division of Quirino Library Hub Book Nook on October 21, 2025, highlighted by an Open Mic Storytelling Session attended by learners from Cabarroguis Central School Integrated SPED Center.

The Open Mic Storytelling featured guest storytellers Sunshine H. Bidhong of Maddela Comprehensive High School, Rafael Gutierrez of Ligaya Elementary School, and Jennifer Acosta of Burgos National High School, who shared selected local stories with the learners as part of the activity’s literacy engagement component.

In his message, Mr. Lionell B. Tobes, Community Development Officer I and NBDB READ Core Team Area Coordinator, commended the SDO Quirino Library Hub Book Nook for its exemplary services as a reading and storytelling center and acknowledged its partnership initiatives in promoting reading within the community.

Tobes also outlined the NBDB’s continuing programs and activities, including those related to reading promotion, capacity building for local storytellers and writers, and community-based literacy efforts.

Dr. Madelyn L. Macalling, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent, expressed appreciation to the NBDB for its collaboration with SDO Quirino in implementing projects that promote reading and improve literacy outcomes among learners.

Dr. Macalling also noted that the SDO Quirino Library Hub Book Nook has produced national awardees in storybook writing and storytelling competitions, recognizing Gawad Teodora Alonso Hall of Fame Awardee Renel Ian Gacayan; two-time GTA Storybook Writing Awardee France Sabado; Illustrators Prize Awardee Julious Perucho; and award-winning storytellers Sunshine Bidhong, Jennifer Acosta, and Rafael Gutierrez.

She also lauded the contributions of UNIFFIED represented by Local President Joannavic C. Collo, and other partners to the Book Nook’s operations.

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Nelia M. Mabuti, CESO VI, remarked that the Book Nook continues to attract readers from different schools and sectors, noting its consistent use as a reading and learning space for both learners and teachers.

Following her remarks, Dr. Mely M. Rubi, Chief Education Supervisor of the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID), conveyed acknowledgment to the NBDB READ Core Team, the guest storytellers, and the various partners supporting the division’s reading initiatives.

Mr. Felimendo M. Felipe, Education Program Supervisor for Learning Resource Management Section (LRMS) and SDO Quirino Book Nook Coordinator, presented the Book Nook’s progress report during the focus group discussion. He cited improvements in readership data and site development supported by partner organizations such as UNIFFIED, Alay Aklatan, AVCG Library Network, Rotary Club, the Provincial Local Government Unit of Quirino, and other private individuals.

Felipe also mentioned that the Book Nook has developed locally authored storybooks that featured Quirino’s traditions and culture.

A readership survey was likewise conducted by the NBDB READ Core Team among the 55 learners of Cabarroguis Central School Integrated SPED Center and other adult readers to assess reading habits and engagement levels.

The activity concluded with a meeting between the NBDB READ Core Team and the SDO Quirino Book Nook Site staff focusing on implementation review of Book Nook site programs and other community-based initiatives.
