Indonesia, We Did It!
CABARROGUIS, QUIRINO — The Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) Department of Quirino State University–Cabarroguis Campus proudly brought Indonesia to life during the Campus-Wide ASEAN Celebration on September 3, 2026, through a day filled with cultural presentations, educational activities, traditional games, and camaraderie.
The celebration began with BEED students marching side by side in the campus parade, proudly waving small Indonesian flags as they represented the country. The parade set the tone for a day dedicated to cultural appreciation and ASEAN unity.
During the main program, BEED Program Chairperson Dr. Miriam C. Reniedo drew attention in her elegant ASEAN-inspired attire, earning recognition as one of the event’s best dressed. Meanwhile, BEED Ambassador Ms. Jingky Salvador represented Indonesia with grace and confidence as she showcased the country’s national costume and shared its rich cultural heritage and warm spirit with the university community.
Following the program, students gathered in front of their respective classrooms for a boodle-fight lunch. Each section prepared an Indonesian dish, giving students an opportunity to experience Indonesia’s culinary traditions while enjoying food and fellowship with their classmates. The celebration was further graced by a visit from the Student Government President Ms. Reyn Guzman, who joined the students in their cultural celebration.
The festivities continued at the Campus Garage, where the BEED Department formally opened its departmental activities. Student Council Governor Jeremie P. Lamug and Vice Governor Jessica D. Marzo led the opening, joined by BEED students, PISARA officers, Student Council members, Adviser Sir Hernan Cedrick H. Gamet, Program Chairperson Dr. Reniedo, and the department’s faculty members.
Three major contests highlighted the academic and creative side of the celebration. The Batik Design Challenge, held at EDRM 10 and led by Rechelle Faith G. Afante, challenged students to explore Indonesian-inspired patterns and designs. At EDRM 01, Jhoy Marie T. Paas led the Indonesia Knowledge Quiz Bee, testing participants’ knowledge of Indonesian culture and heritage. Meanwhile, the Indonesia Map Challenge, held at EDRM 03 and led by Jeremie P. Lamug and Maureen Ramos, encouraged participants to discover Indonesia through its geography.
The BEED Student Council also officially launched its 2026–2027 income-generating project, Pag-asa sa Singko: Event Shout, led by Governor Lamug under the guidance of Adviser Sir Gamet.
Adding excitement to the celebration were the traditional Indonesian games, which were opened to participants from the department. Under the supervision of Vice Governor Jessica D. Marzo, students took part in Yeye, facilitated by Marzo; Bentangan, led by Althea Fernandez and Mariz Bromeo; Tarik Tambang, an Indonesian tug-of-war facilitated by Vince Raiven P. Bacani and Charles M. Versoza; and Gobak Sodor, led by Jess Bell Bay-ong and Jessica D. Marzo.
Laughter and cheers filled the venue as students participated in the games, turning the cultural celebration into an opportunity not only to learn about Indonesia but also to strengthen relationships within the BEED community.
The day concluded with an awarding ceremony recognizing the participants who excelled throughout the activities. Winners of the traditional games received cash incentives sponsored by Dr. Casareno and the SG President, while those who placed in the academic contests were awarded school supplies to support their studies.
Before leaving the venue, students and organizers also joined hands for Edukalinisan, cleaning and restoring the activity area. The initiative underscored the department’s commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly environment even after a day of celebration.
More than a showcase of Indonesian culture, the BEED Department’s participation became a collective expression of unity, creativity, and student involvement. From the parade and cultural presentations to the games, contests, shared meals, and clean-up drive, students carried Indonesia with pride while celebrating the spirit of ASEAN together.
Indonesia, we did it—not alone, but as one.
