Education Sabbath is more than a celebration. It is a reminder of the sacred responsibility entrusted to us--parents, teachers, and the church--to shape the hearts and lives of the children God has placed in our care.

The story of Daniel reminds us of the kind of foundation we hope to build in our children.

Daniel's foundation was built while he was still young. It began at home, was nurtured through instruction, and was strengthened by the values and faith planted in his heart. And when he was taken far from home, into a world that tried to change who he was, that foundation remained firm.

Babylon changed his surroundings, but it could not change his character. It changed his circumstances, but it could not change his convictions.

Daniel chose what is right even when no one was watching.

That is the kind of foundation we pray to build in our children and pupils.

A foundation that begins at home, is continually molded in school, and is strengthened by the church and the community of faith.

May we never forget that every lesson we teach, every value we model, every correction we give, and every example we show can leave a lasting imprint on a young heart.

Our responsibility is not simply to help earn high grades, but to develop high character. Not simply to prepare them for successful careers, but for a life of faithful service. Not merely to prepare them for life on earth, but for eternity.
