Project KAPP Conducts Basic Life Support–First Aid Training in Barangay Sto. Niño

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — Residents of Purok 6, Barangay Sto. Niño, Cabanatuan City, together with Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and BSN 4 student volunteers, participated in a Basic Life Support–First Aid Training under Project KAPP (Kalusugang Pampamayanan) on August 17, 2026.

The training aimed to strengthen the community’s preparedness and capacity to respond effectively to medical emergencies and other health-related situations. It equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in basic life support and first aid, empowering them to provide immediate assistance during emergencies.

Project KAPP is an initiative of the Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (INAHS) of MV Gallego Foundation Colleges that seeks to enhance community health preparedness, promote preventive health practices, strengthen local emergency response capabilities, and encourage volunteer participation through community-based health programs.

The activity underscores the institution’s commitment to forging meaningful partnerships with local stakeholders and community members toward building a more prepared, responsive, and health-conscious community.

Regular Community Extension Project Consultation Strengthens CEOP Initiatives

Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija — The Community Extension and Outreach Program (CEOP) of Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges, Inc. (MVGFCI) conducted its Regular Community Extension Project Consultation on August 7, 2026, at the MV Gallego CEOP Office to discuss the progress and implementation of key institutional extension initiatives.

The consultation was attended by Prof. Al John Marcelino, IBM CEOP Coordinator; Prof. Edison Diego, IBM Program Coordinator; Prof. Renzo Malubay, IICT CEOP Coordinator; and Ms. Xyza G. Manuel, Document Controller of Barangay San Juan ACCFA. The meeting was facilitated by CEOP Officer Ma. Victoria R. Victa and was supervised by CEOP Director Rene Boy E. Abiva.

The discussion focused on the development and implementation of the Barangay Information Management System, an extension project of the Institute of Information and Communications Technology (IICT), and Project ACCFA, the flagship community livelihood and enterprise development initiative of the Institute of Business Management (IBM). Participants reviewed project updates, identified implementation priorities, and discussed strategies to strengthen collaboration between the College and its community partner, Barangay San Juan ACCFA.

The consultation reaffirmed MVGFCI's commitment to responsive, sustainable, and community-centered extension programs that address local development needs through interdisciplinary partnerships. (Frederick J. Manalastas)

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija—Bilang paghahanda sa nalalapit na School Press Conference, nagsagawa ng journalism training ang Talipapa Elementary School sa pakikipagtulungan sa Community Extension and Outreach Program (CEOP) at Heritage and Internationalization Office ng Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges, Inc. (MVGFCI), na naglalayong hasain ang kakayahan ng mga batang mamamahayag sa iba't ibang larangan ng pamamahayag.

Inimbitahan bilang mga tagapagsanay sina Frederick Manalastas, Technical Assistant ng Community Extension and Outreach Program, at Camille Torres, Technical Assistant ng Heritage and Internationalization Office, sa pamumuno at paggabay ni Rene Boy Abiva, Director ng dalawang tanggapan. Ang pagsasanay ay bahagi ng patuloy na pakikipagtuwang ng kolehiyo sa mga paaralan upang mapaunlad ang kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral sa pagsusulat at paghahanda sa mga kompetisyong pampahayagan.

Pinangunahan ni Manalastas ang pagsasanay sa Editorial Writing at Column Writing, kung saan ibinahagi niya ang mahahalagang prinsipyo sa pagsulat ng mapanuring editoryal at makabuluhang kolum. Binigyang-diin din niya ang wastong pagbuo ng argumento, paggamit ng ebidensya, at malinaw na pagpapahayag ng pananaw bilang mahahalagang kasanayang kinakailangan sa kompetisyon.

Samantala, tinutukan naman ni Torres ang News Writing, kung saan ginabayan niya ang mga kalahok sa tamang pagsulat ng balita gamit ang inverted pyramid, wastong pagbuo ng lead, at pagsunod sa pamantayan ng katumpakan, balanse, at obhetibidad sa pamamahayag.

Magpapatuloy ang journalism training sa susunod na Biyernes sa pangunguna ni Rene Boy Abiva, na magsisilbing tagapagsanay sa Feature Writing. Inaasahang higit pang mapauunlad ng mga kalahok ang kanilang kasanayan sa malikhaing pagsulat at pagkukuwento bilang bahagi ng komprehensibong paghahanda ng paaralan para sa nalalapit na paligsahan.

Sa pamamagitan ng patuloy na pagtutulungan ng Talipapa Elementary School at Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges, Inc., inaasahang mas magiging handa at kumpiyansa ang mga batang mamamahayag sa pagpapamalas ng kanilang husay sa larangan ng campus journalism.

The High School Department and Institute of Teacher Education through Community Extension and Outreach Program, successfully completed the Project ALAP (Alalay sa Pagbasa) Pre-Assessment across its four partner schools; DS Garcia Elementary School, MS Garcia Elementary School, Talipapa Elementary School, and ACA Elementary School in preparation for the upcoming reading intervention sessions.

The pre-assessment covered Grade 1 to Grade 3 learners and was designed to determine their current reading proficiency, identify learners who require additional support, and establish baseline data for the intervention program. The activity reflects Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges Inc. commitment to providing evidence-based literacy initiatives that address the reading needs of young learners.

With the successful completion of the pre-assessment phase, the Reading Intervention Program is set to commence next week. Guided by the assessment results, the intervention sessions will deliver targeted reading support to help improve learners' reading skills and contribute to the promotion of quality education in MVGFC partner schools.

Bilang pagtugon sa patuloy na hamon sa kakayahan sa pagbasa ng mga mag-aaral sa elementarya, pormal nang sinimulan ng High School Department ng Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges, Inc. (MVGFC) at Institute of Teacher Education (ITE) ang implementasyon ng Project ALAP (Alalay sa Pagbasa) para sa Taong Panuruan 2026–2027.

Ang Project ALAP ay isang programang pangkomunidad na naglalayong mapaunlad ang kasanayan sa pagbasa, pag-unawa, at pagpapahalaga sa pagkatuto ng mga mag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng sistematikong reading intervention, assessment, at mentoring.

Kasama rin sa programa ang aktibong pakikilahok ng mga g**o, mag-aaral, at iba pang stakeholder upang mabigyan ng sapat na suporta ang mga batang nangangailangan ng karagdagang tulong sa literasiya.

Kabilang sa mga partner schools ng programa ang Talipapa Elementary School, M.S. Garcia Elementary School, at D.S. Garcia Elementary School, kung saan isinagawa na ang pre-assessment noong nakaraang linggo, na kung saan naglalayong sukatin ang reading readiness ng mga bata gamit ang Word Per Minute (WPM).

Pinangungunahan ang implementasyon ng programa ng Institute of Teacher Education at MVGFC High School Department katuwang ang Community Extension and Outreach Program (CEOP), sa pakikipagtulungan ng mga partner schools.

Sa pamamagitan ng Project ALAP, muling pinagtitibay ng MVGFC ang kanyang adhikain na makapaghatid ng makabuluhang serbisyong pangkomunidad at makalikha ng positibong pagbabago sa larangan ng edukasyon. Inaasahang magiging daan ang programang ito upang higit pang mapaunlad ang kakayahan sa pagbasa ng mga mag-aaral at maitaguyod ang kultura ng literasiya sa mga pamayanang pinaglilingkuran.

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija- Demonstrating its commitment to responsive community healthcare, the Institute of Nursing and Alliance Health Sciences (INAHS) of Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges, Inc. (MVGFCI) Through Community Extension and Outreach Program (CEOP) successfully completed a Training Needs Assessment (TNA) for Project KAPP (Kalusugang Pampamayanan) in Purok 6, Barangay Sto. Niño, Cabanatuan City, marking a significant step toward the implementation of its community health initiative, Bantay AltaPresyon.

The activity was spearheaded by Ms. Jennylyn Castillo, INAHS Community Extension and Outreach Program (CEOP) Coordinator, together with Six (6) Bachelor of Science in Nursing student volunteers. Through house-to-house visits and community consultations, the team engaged residents in identifying their health concerns, existing practices, and learning needs related to hypertension prevention and management.

The initiative reflects the institution's belief that effective extension programs begin with listening to the community. By collecting firsthand data, the assessment ensures that future interventions are evidence-based, relevant, and tailored to the actual needs of Purok 6, Barangay Sto. Niño, promote stronger partnerships between the academic institution and the people it serves.

Apart from strengthening community partnerships, the activity also served as an experiential learning opportunity for the nursing students, allowing them to apply their academic knowledge in a real-life setting. Under the guidance of Ms. Castillo, the student volunteers strengthened their skills in communication, community assessment, and public health while gaining a deeper appreciation for the role of nurses in preventive healthcare.

The findings of the Training Needs Assessment will serve as the foundation for the implementation of Bantay AltaPresyon Program, a flagship component of Project KAPP that aims to promote regular blood pressure monitoring, health education, and healthy lifestyle practices among residents. Through collaborative efforts between the college and the local community, the program aspires to empower individuals to take an active role in preventing hypertension and improving their overall well-being.

As MVGFCI continues to strengthen its extension services, the successful completion of the Training Needs Assessment underscores the Institute of Nursing and Alliance Health Sciences' commitment to delivering sustainable, community-centered programs that create meaningful and lasting health outcomes.

MV Gallego Community Extends Gifts of Love Through Outreach Program

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — Demonstrating its steadfast commitment to compassion, service, and community engagement, the Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges (MVGFC) successfully conducted its "Gifts of Love" Outreach Program on July 23, 2026, at the MVGFC campus as one of the highlights of YOUGTO 2026, spearheaded by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS).

The outreach activity brought together the Institute of Teacher Education (ITE), Institute of Business Management (IBM), and the Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (INAHS) in a collaborative effort to extend assistance to members of the community through the donation of essential goods.

As part of the initiative, the participating institutes distributed school supplies, packs of noodles, and hygiene kits to selected beneficiaries. The donations were intended to support the recipients' educational and basic daily needs while fostering the values of generosity, empathy, volunteerism, and social responsibility among MVGFC students, faculty members, and personnel.

The "Gifts of Love" Outreach Program reflects MVGFC's unwavering commitment to community service and its mission of developing socially responsible individuals who actively contribute to nation-building through meaningful and transformative outreach initiatives.

Through collaborative programs such as this, MVGFC continues to strengthen its partnership with the community, affirming that even simple acts of kindness can create a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of others.
