𝐈𝐒𝐔 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬’ 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟏𝟗 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐬-𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬

𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗚𝗨𝗘, 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮 – Isabela State University (ISU) has officially joined the ranks of the Philippines’ most prolific research institutions, securing the 19th spot in the national rankings for Scopus-indexed publications as of 2nd Quarter this year.

The achievement places ISU in the elite "100 and Above" category, a benchmark of the identified the top university-producers in the Philippines in terms of high-impact research.

From 2022 to 2026, ISU has amassed an overall total of 555 Scopus-indexed publications.

The ranking underscores a steady upward trajectory for the University’s scholarly contributions. A year-by-year breakdown of the data shows that ISU has consistently increased its annual output, recording 101 publications in 2025 and continuing its momentum into the first half of 2026.

The Scopus database is the world’s largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, making this ranking a significant indicator of the University’s global academic standing.

By clinching the 19th position, ISU stands alongside premier national institutions and prominent private universities, reinforcing its vision as a Research University.

This recognition highlights the excellence of fourteen (14) ISU professors whose scholarly contributions bring honor to the University and the growing strength of Region II in the field of research and higher education.

FEATURE | A Cave Assessment at Tumauini Watershed Natural Park was conducted and led by CENRO of Cabagan which aimed at understanding the geological and hydrological characteristics, environmental conditions, and potential hazards. As part of this initiative, the Department of Research and Development-Isabela State University Cabagan, was invited to conduct a technical assessment, represented by Ms. Jessa Ammugauan.

The 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 - 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 successfully held its comprehensive 2025 Research and Development Proposal Review for 2026 SB and GAA-funded projects on November 21, 2025.

This rigorous process evaluated a total of 𝟱𝟲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀, which were categorized across four key research areas: 16 Technical, 17 Technological, 14 Social, and 9 Higher Education Research categories. This volume and diversity underscore the campus’s strong dedication to advancing knowledge, developing new technologies, and addressing societal challenges relevant to the region and the nation.

The evaluation process maintained high standards, thanks to the expertise of the distinguished panel of reviewers. The proposals were meticulously assessed by Dr. Ruby L. Mamauag for the Higher Education category, Dr. Eva U. Cammayo for Social Research, Dr. Jesusimo L. Dioses Jr. for Technological Research, and Dr. Aubrey Balbin and Dr. Samuel R. Simon for the Technical Research category. Their critical insights and thorough review ensure that the chosen R&D initiatives are scientifically sound, relevant, and possess the highest potential for yielding impactful outcomes, thereby driving institutional excellence and contributing significantly to national development goals.
