On August 13, 2026 at 5:30pm, The Environmental Envoys and Conservationists' Society (EnvironECS) sucessfully conducted an election for a 1st Year Representative from the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) 1st Year. 💚✨

President of the EnvironECS, Cyrelle Jay Sahidjani, briefly explained the objectives and history of the organization, and the responsibilities of a student-leader in the Department.

Four students were nominated by the body, but ultimately only one of them emerged victorious and was officially declared to be the 1st Year Representative for the Academic Year (AY) 26-27.✨💚

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science program of the College of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Mindanao State University–Zamboanga Sibugay, continues to demonstrate its tradition of academic excellence by producing back-to-back University Salutatorians in two consecutive academic years.

Leading the Class of 2024–2025 is Hannah Lynn Chavez, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with an impressive CGPA of 1.362. Hailing from Jose Dalman, Zamboanga del Norte, Chavez earned the distinction of University Salutatorian through her unwavering dedication to academic excellence and environmental stewardship. Today, she serves as the Pollution Control Officer (PCO) at THL Farm, overseeing environmental compliance, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and advancing sustainability initiatives that promote responsible environmental management.

Continuing this remarkable legacy is Mailyn E. Sibusana, the University Salutatorian of the Class of 2025–2026. A Magna Cum Laude graduate with an outstanding CGPA of 1.268, Sibusana comes from Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur, where she was raised in a farming family. Her academic success reflects the values of perseverance, humility, and hard work instilled by her family, proving that determination and dedication can overcome life’s challenges.

The consecutive achievement of Chavez and Sibusana highlights the consistent quality of the BS Environmental Science program in producing graduates who excel not only in academics but also in environmental leadership and service. Their accomplishments inspire future environmental scientists to pursue excellence, embrace sustainability, and contribute meaningfully to environmental protection and conservation.

As these two outstanding graduates embark on their respective professional journeys, they carry with them the mission of the College of Forestry and Environmental Studies, which is to develop competent, ethical, and globally competitive environmental professionals committed to building a more sustainable future.
