The College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS) successfully held its Leadership Enhancement and Academic Development (LEAD) activity on April 8, 2026, at Hiraya Hall, Caraga State University. The event brought together members of the CCIS Management Committee and faculty members for a day of professional development and institutional reporting.
The program was formally opened by College Dean Dr. Jaymer M. Jayoma, after which Information Systems Department Head Mr. Jayrhom R. Almonteros delivered the rationale for the activity, setting the tone for the day's engagements.
The morning session featured two keynote talks from distinguished resource speakers. Dr. Michelle V. Japitana, Vice President for Executive Operations, delivered a talk titled "Leadership Skills and Mindset for the 21st Century," in which she explored the evolution of leadership, the essential traits that define effective leaders, and the core competencies required to lead in today's dynamic academic environment.
This was followed by CMNS Dean Assoc. Prof. Henson M. Dejarme, LIKHA Strategic Team Chairperson, who presented "Strategy 101 for Academic Leaders: Choosing, Explaining, and Executing What Mattersโ. He underscored the importance of establishing a unified language of strategy within the institution, emphasizing that effort alone does not produce alignment โ deliberate, well-communicated strategies must be in place to drive collective direction and results. The morning session was capped with a synthesis and recap facilitated by BS Computer Science Department Head Dr. Roland P. Abao.
In the afternoon, faculty members holding administrative designations took the floor to present their accomplishments for the first quarter, providing the college leadership with a comprehensive overview of progress made across various academic and administrative units.
The LEAD activity reflects CCIS's continuing commitment to nurturing strong, strategic leadership within its ranks. By investing in both leadership formation and regular performance review, the college reinforces a culture of accountability, intentional growth, and academic excellence โ values that remain central to its mission of producing globally competitive computing professionals.
