The College of Innovative Hospitality and Tourism (CIHT) extends its heartfelt appreciation to Engr. Nikko James M. Jadumas, Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology (CEnTech), Father Saturnino Urios University, for serving as the resource speaker during the Seminar-Workshop on Facility Planning and Ergonomics 2026 held on September 19, 2026 at AVR 2, College Building South (CBS).

Through his expertise, insightful discussions, and constructive critique of the students’ outputs, Engr. Jadumas guided participants to look beyond drawings and layouts and understand the vital relationship between people and the built environment. His professional insights emphasized that effective facility design is not only about structures but also about creating spaces that promote comfort, safety, efficiency, functionality, and meaningful user experiences.

His invaluable contribution enabled students to truly appreciate the theme, “Beyond the Blueprint,” inspiring them to design with purpose and a deeper understanding of human-centered facility planning.

BUTUAN CITY, September 19, 2026 — The College of Innovative Hospitality and Tourism (CIHT) successfully conducted the Seminar-Workshop on Facility Planning and Ergonomics 2026, providing 4th Year Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students with valuable industry-based insights into facility design, ergonomics, and operational efficiency.

Anchored on the theme, “Beyond the Blueprint: Understanding Facility Design and Ergonomics for Hospitality and Tourism Feasibility,” the activity emphasized the importance of strategic planning, human-centered design, workflow efficiency, and sustainability in developing functional hospitality and tourism facilities.

Conducted under HPC 418 – Ergonomics and Facility Planning for the Hospitality Industry, the seminar-workshop enabled students to examine how space utilization, safety, operational flow, and guest experience contribute to business feasibility and service excellence.

The College also commended the selected 4th Year BSHM student committees for successfully organizing and managing the event as part of their academic requirements in HPC 419 – Introduction to MICE Events, demonstrating their competence in event planning and ex*****on.

The College of Innovative Hospitality and Tourism (CIHT) of Father Saturnino Urios University, together with its esteemed partners, is honored to introduce Dr. Hannah Rejoice N. Erlina, Membership Committee Member of UTHP Southeastern Mindanao, as the speaker for the 2nd Plenary Talk of the Webinar on Celebrating World Tourism Day 2026.

Dr. Erlina will deliver a plenary lecture entitled “Building Dynamic Careers in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry & Call for Membership,” highlighting the diverse career pathways, emerging opportunities, and professional competencies essential for success in the tourism and hospitality sector. Her presentation will also underscore the value of professional engagement, lifelong learning, and active participation in industry organizations in fostering career growth and professional excellence.

On September 9, 2026, the students of BSTM 11 NSTP 1 took part in the Urian Kalinga Community Build 2026 at Barangay Mahay, Butuan City, embodying the true spirit of service that defines the Father Saturnino Urios University community.

More than constructing houses, the annual Urian GK Build is about building hope, dignity, and opportunities for families in need. As one of the flagship activities of FSUU's Founding Anniversary celebration, this initiative reminds us that education is not only measured by what we learn inside the classroom, but also by how we extend compassion and contribute to society.

Through our participation, we become partners in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Every hour volunteered reflects a shared commitment to creating communities where families can live with safety, stability, and dignity.

As future tourism professionals, we recognize that sustainable development begins with empowered communities. By serving others, we help build not only homes, but also stronger foundations for a more inclusive and compassionate future.

🏨✨ 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧 & 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞 | 𝐅𝐎𝐒 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝!

29 days. 12 students. Countless lessons and unforgettable experiences. Our BSTM students have officially completed their Front Office Services (FOS) Training at Astoria Plaza Hotel, marking another milestone in their OJT journey. From their previous Flight Attendant Training to welcoming guests at the front office, our students continue to broaden their skills and discover the many possibilities within the tourism and hospitality industry.

And what better way to celebrate than with a well-deserved evening of good food and great company? 🖤🤍 As part of their completion experience, our students enjoyed a Black & White Themed Buffet Dinner at Café Astoria, creating one more memorable moment to cap off their training journey.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Astoria Plaza Hotel for welcoming, training, and nurturing our students throughout their 29-day FOS experience. Thank you for helping them turn classroom knowledge into confidence, professionalism, and industry-ready skills. At CIHT, we don't just prepare students for the industry—we prepare them to see the possibilities beyond it.
