BCPO Strengthens School Safety Through Collaborative Consultative Meeting

BUTUAN CITY POLICE OFFICE, BUTUAN CITY – In a proactive move to ensure the safety of the local student population, the Butuan City Police Office hosted a "Consultative Meeting on the Improvement of School Security Measures" yesterday, August 20, at the BCPO Conference Room.

With a theme, “Strengthening Police-School Partnership for a Safe and Secure Learning Environment," brought together law enforcement officials and education leaders here in Butuan to address emerging security concerns. Dr. Minerva T. Albis, Schools Division Superintendent, highlighted the Schools’ Security Concerns and Existing Security Measures.

"Our goal is simple: to build a safer Butuan City by working hand-in-hand with our educators," stated PCOL Richie M. Yatar, CD, BCPO, during his closing message. “By identifying risks and sharing resources, we can create an environment where students can focus entirely on their learning."

In conjunction with school safety initiatives, the BCPO continues to urge the public to utilize the following emergency resources:

1. The Unified 911 Emergency Hotline: A free, 24/7 service available for any emergency (crime, fire, medical, or accidents). The service supports multiple dialects, including Cebuano, Tagalog, Ilocano, Waray, and Tausug;
2. A.G.A.P. CARAGA Mobile App: Residents are encouraged to download this app for real-time advisories and quick police assistance; and
3. Local Station Hotlines: The BCPO has released an updated list of hotline numbers for all six City Police Stations (BCPS 1-6) and City’s Mobile Force to ensure rapid response at the neighborhood level.

The BCPO remains committed to its motto: "To Serve and to Protect."

ADVISORY

Due to the rising heat index and to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our students, faculty, and personnel, in-person (face-to-face) classes at all levels are suspended tomorrow, Friday, August 14, 2026.

Classes will shift to synchronous or asynchronous learning modalities. All online classes shall be conducted through the Lawig LMS.

Note: The Cashier’s Office will remain open on August 14, 2026, to accommodate and accept payments for the upcoming Midterm Examinations.

Everyone is advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take necessary precautions during this period of extreme heat.

Please be guided accordingly.
