Congratulations to ๐๐ง๐ ๐ซ. ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ง๐๐ก๐๐ณ, ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE), on his successful acceptance and completion of the month-long ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฆ at the prestigious ๐๐๐ข๐๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ (๐๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ข๐๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ซ๐ ) in Baden-Wรผrttemberg, Germany. Heidelberg University is Germanyโs oldest university (since 1386) and one of Europeโs leading research universities. Engr. Sanchez was among the 21 participants selected from hundreds of applicants worldwide, exclusively from DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship holders pursuing masterโs and doctoral studies.
The Summer School Program consisted of an online phase from July 6โ18, 2026, followed by an in-person phase from July 25โAugust 24, 2026. The program provided intensive, hands-on training designed to give early- and mid-career researchers opportunities to participate in high-level academic training in selected subject areas, engage and exchange ideas with peers from around the world, and gain meaningful experiences of German society, culture, and history. A further objective of the program was to contribute to the long-term improvement of teaching and research conditions in partner countries and to strengthen their higher education structures. Beyond the intensive academic and practical sessions in Heidelberg, the program featured educational excursions and official visits to several important institutions and destinations, including Bonn, where participants visited the DAAD Headquarters, Deutsche Welle, GIZ, and the United Nations, as well as Strasbourg, France, where they visited the European Parliament, and other EU countries such as Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
The program also included various social and cultural activities, such as city tours, museum visits, group dinners, and other activities that promoted professional networking, intercultural exchange, and international collaboration among participants. The training followed a modular design comprising four key topics and a total of 120 learning hours: (1) Creating an Intercultural Learning Environment; (2) Participatory Teaching Techniques in Higher Education; (3) Quality and Ethics in Research and Publication; and (4) Grant Proposal Writing.
The Summer School was funded by the ๐๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ก๐๐ง๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐ (๐๐๐๐) through its program on the โAcademic Qualification of Junior Researchers from Developing Countries,โ with financial support from the ๐๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐
๐๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ (๐๐๐). This international academic experience further strengthens Engr. Sanchezโs capabilities in teaching, research, academic leadership, international collaboration, and grant development, contributing to his continuing professional growth as a faculty member and researcher.
