Timber City Academyโs delegates stepped into a meaningful exchange with Toyo University Junior and Senior High School in Japan, where ideas were challenged, perspectives expanded, and cultures experienced firsthand.
Representing the institution and fellow members of the Debate League are Skyler Matthio Calix Go (G12), Rockie Ras (G12), Princess Kanna Kaiser-Kaplanner (G11), Candice Marie Go (G9), Breanna Sophia Cultura (G9), and Liam Peter Yee (G9), guided under the leadership of School Principal Kim Christian T. Matildo, with the support of accompanying parents Carmelle Go and Malcom Go.
Through engaging debates, collaborative English classes, and immersive cultural experiences such as calligraphy and traditional tea ceremonies, the delegates were able to witness firsthand how discourse transcends language and tradition.
Each exchange of ideas became a bridgeโstrengthening not only communication skills, but mutual respect between Filipino and Japanese learners. The journey extended beyond the academic sphere, allowing students to encounter history and culture in ways that deepen perspective and inspire growth. This experience stands as a reflection of a growing partnershipโone that began with shared curiosity and continues to flourish through dialogue, respect, and global awareness.
More than an achievement, this moment stands as a testament to the power of education in building globally competent individualsโready to listen, to speak, and to lead.
